Ok everyone, I know everyone knows me as the "Art Thief" but I have sat infront of my computer with photoshop loaded and tutorials pasted all over my hard drive. I am here to let you know that I am now LEGIT!!! for the last month or so I have worked day and night to earn my creditbility back (what little I have) and my days of being a loser are over. I would like to invite everyone to view my new and LEGIT site. http://gabereiser.addr.com (soon to be vsstudios.com) I will be setting up a forum on my site so you guys can contact me (hopefully with no more hate mail ) and let me know what you guys think.
Here is a little sample of the stuff that will be there in the next week or so.
Let me remind you that I have been working really hard to prove myself and this I think is a start.
-Gabe Reiser

I wouldn't go outside if I were you, now that everyone here knows what you look like.

Looks like you've been following those tutorials step by step...
Is that an improvement?

In my experience (with almost no exception)once someone is a liar, they're always a liar. Trust is a fragile thing and you get none, for I have no patients for dishonesty.
My guess is that you are still here to practice signing your signature on other people's artwork or whatever your ridiculous excuse was.
If you want a job that can utilize the skill set you have try sales. Used car sales requires liberal truth bending and glossing over of key information. |

Why bother making your own pics? It's so much easier just to steal them... |

Dunno. But from the sounds of things, maybe you've already seen it?

The grey background seems kind of flat compared with blue text area. I'm not sure what to suggest, but you might want to try something else in the background.

I might almost be convinced to give someone like Binder a second chance... but you took things one step too far. It would take a lot of convincing, or monetary bribes, for you to get into the good graces of this forum again.
It's not that I don't believe you that you've mended your ways. I just think there are some things that aren't so easily forgiven. |

Wow... such hostility. It's too bad it's this way.
Now, I've never had any of my art ripped off (who'd want to? haaha!), so I might not have the same perspective as everyone else, but let's just assume that Gabe's being sincere, which to me it seems he is.
I believe that everyone deserves a second chance if they're willing to try. I for one, am glad to see that you've owned up to your mistakes (better than most thieves and liars) and are trying to set things right. Here's your chance. It's going to be rough for a while though, so just keep putting out -quality- ORIGINAL work, and never ever again post altered work of any kind.
Everyone makes mistakes, sometimes repeatedly. I remember growing up doing things that I wouldn't even think of doing today! Sometimes it takes getting busted and seeing people's reactions to you as a person for you to realize what the ramifications of your actions are...
Anyway, you might not have everyone's support here, but for now, here's one vote of confidence hoping you're on the right track for good. Don't let us down...
peace,
------------

GTech, I think the problem is that Gabe did get a second chance. He used it to sell us that line about signing Spooge's work, so it wouldn't get stolen, blah, blah, blah. He was given ample opportunity to come clean. Plus, going out for a job using someone else's portfolio is serious, not the same as someone just posting a traced image in this forum. It is possible to come back from that kind of shame, but it will take time. |

Personally I couldn't forgive you, but it's really up to Craig. If he's OK with it, I'm fine with it, since it was his art, not mine.

He lied to everyone and stole more than just Craig's work. He used other people's work in his portfolio to get a job which is criminal. Then he still had that work on his website under his portfolio section with his signature on them. He came up with a lame excuse as to why the images were there and stuck to that excuse until he was confronted about the job he wormed his way into.

Just wanted to chime in, with my idea of 'forgiveness'. Here's the deal. For true forgiveness 3 things have to be in place:
1. The person is TRULY sorry, and apologizes for their mistake.
2. The person discontinues the behavior that led to the mistake. Thus, the 'mistake' will not repeat itself.
3. The person does EVERYTHING in his or her power to fix the damage that was done and returns the situation to the status quo of BEFORE their actions took place.
If any ONE of these three is missing the person in question is not truly sorry. Why? Lets see. If a person is 2. & 3. then they are likely to do the questionable or similar behavior in a similar situation if the opportunity presents itself again. If a person is 1. & 2. then theoretically you could rob a bank, be really really sorry, and promise not to do it again, but still keep the money and laugh all the way home. Obviously, immoral. I could go on, but any combination will give you the same results. All 3 must be present or else any "I'm sorry" isn't worth the oxygen you've wasted uttering it. Try this at home, you'll see it works.
I see Gabe's case as follows. A. Gabe should be really sorry for what he has done and issue a public apology to those he stole from and to those he mislead into thinking that he drew something that he did not. B. Gabe must discontinue plagiarizing other people's work from this day on forth. C. Gabe should pay restitution to Craig, Dhabih, etc for the damages he has caused. Pay them from the wages you earned using THEIR Portfolio.
Obviously, first and foremost all the calls on these items would have to be made by the victims affected by Gabe's wrongdoing.
However, as far as I'm concerned I would not even waste my time on you until you've done the aforementioned things.
That's just me.

Wow. Did he really use other peoples work for employment purposes? That's not only really f'd up its downright stupid! What happens if you got the job? You would need to produce some stuiff to match your portfolio.

McSteed-you need to go to church and pray to god almighty. YOu are a very bad person for saying bad things. Shame on you...
Don't you have better things to do than look at forums and make mean remarks at people. YOu should be ashamed of yourself. Be nice ok?
I like the picture. It is very good. |

Zoinks!
Please take no offense my friend, but do tread lightly in these waters. Perform a search on Gabe and you will understand the passion in some of these replies...

This is so dumb. I'm astonished that this is still being debated. Why don't we give this many replies to people who actually deserve it?
To Gabe: Listen to G:tech and stick to your own stuff. Keep doing that and you are cool with me....I think.
As for your piece: It is kinda boring. The composition could use some work. Also, the text is hard to read. Figure out what you want to say with your piece and say it elegantly and simply. Dig? |

The way i see it is , you give up all rights on this forum if you steel other peoples work. It goes against everything and should not be tolerated. So in my book, there are no 3 strikes your out, one is all you need .. |

It wasn't as if you tripped, slipped on the floor and accidentally signed your name to spooge's artwork.
It was pretty planned.
Whereas I am glad you've decided to come here to post, Gabe, I think it would have been better served as an apology and an "exit stage left". Craig, himself might be gracious enough to accept your presence, and hell he might even crit some of your stuff..(doubtful at best) I think you'll find that what you did is about the worst thing you can do to an artist, and most people in here aren't as gracious as Craig might be. Posting here might be like throwing yourself to the lions.
