Doing a self portrait now, and i just posted a portrait of my sister *its unfinished too*
This one is coming along, but I'm just doing a total greyscale look...I don't want it to look messy...so I'm refining all the lines to make them as clean as possible.
The left side is better than the right side, the glasses need to be fixed on the right...as well as a whole wack of other things. Just posting my progress so far
By the way, i was making a funny face, so thats why my lips are *pursed* or whatever you call it...

Pretty good stuff Anthony.
Here's some areas you can attack next time to get even better results.
Ears -- toughest thing on the face next to eyes. Work on REALLy understanding the details. Stare at your own ear for an hour or two. Draw a couple ears on some sheets of paper.
Under the chin kind of blends into the neck, while the rest of the face has sharper shadowing and contrast.
The lips are a little too detailed compared to the rest of the face. It feels like their should be some shading somewhere near the lips, but I'm not certain.
Overall, great proportions and attacks on the lighting and shading. It's much better than my last self portrait I did years ago. |

thanks sergenth!
I'm still working on it, and ya there are alot of problems with the image still, but i like it. I was leaning back in my chair when doing the neck, so it sort of created a little bulb underneath the skull that i painted, but i'm now going to remove.
My head was also tilted so it was a challenge doing that...
i haven't done one of these in years, so i'm just now getting the hang of it!
