This i really enjoyed doing. I've never really sketched exactly the same way as i do with a regular pencil in Photoshop. It's so soft! I love it. I mainly focused on the expressions rather than trying to make it look like me. i spent 5 minute on each.
I think this is a really good and fun excercise.

Wow!

I love all your work Micke!!!

Please tell us how you start to draw your face...Do you start with basic shape or do you focus to draw your eyes first?

Brilliant. I love the simplicity, and the subtle awareness of facial planes. That's a neat exercise, I'll have to give it a shot.

Thanks!
Wracky:I start carefully doing the overall shapes and move into details later. I rarely
start with the eyes, but they are next after i've done the shape of the entire head.
agent44: Try it out! Would love to see
more of your linework.

yes..very nice...

I dont know if my earlier statement "posted" but here is my question...

You have the head expression thing down. Very very nice. now what I want to know is...Can you match a full figure sketch to the head expression?

can you show that body language supports the expression..or counters it depending on what you want to express?

just curious..

again nice sketches.

Have that book now..really good...helps me alot..

(swedish)

Wow, micke! I really dig these. Your linestyle works well.

Btw, do you wear glasses? Stupid question... but I just want to know if your point was to improvise?

I did some pencil sketches today. Actually they were facial expressions. Yeah. I agree that it's absolutely fun. I'll try to post some work as soon as possible.

Poxen, I did it with a mirror. Both me and Joachim have a mirror at work so that we both can see our drawings flipped, but it's also very good for exercises like this.
I used the mirror for doing the heads.
Yes, i have heard about the Loomis book. In fact we have it at work(Joachim bought it)
It's very good and i recommend it deeply.

Ramiranda: Neat stuff I especially like the
last 2 ones. The second last one is the best i think. Keep on doing these! It's fun and you'll learn a lot.
Jason M: I've added a body to the second last head that i posted first and tried to make a pose that matched. Does it look right?
I hope that i have'nt misunderstanded totally.

I hope we can keep this thread as an place for exercises like this.
Good night people

Five minutes? and 30 seconds?

*smacks head on desk and groans in despair of ever being that good or near that fast!*

Sheesh, you and Optical Illusion....

Damned impressive. My question is this. Can you put them in a scene?

Yourmum:
I did'nt see your answer until after i posted.

Thank you for your feedback.
Yeah, I've started to wear glasses.
A couple of weeks ago i started to get migraines, and i found out that i need glasses when i work in front of the screen.
Glad i just have to wear them at work. Feels clumsy.

Good Post your sketches here.
Looking forward seeing them.

Hi Micke!

Cool work, very good sketches. Yes, I agree - it's very good training. To be a good artist is almost all about training, really. And ofcourse talent if you want to be among the best.......

Sorry I didn't had the time to make facial expressions, but I'll post something else instead. Keep it up! :-)

The answer is right in front of you, just put it down as it is and analyse it at the same time. The 5 minutes and 30 secs are
intense 5 minutes and 30 secs. Learn to observe and work with the whole and you'll see things goes much faster and smoother. I still have a long way to go when it comes to that.
Poxen: Post it anyway It helps!
Kjetil: Thanks. Looking forward seeing your expressions. Othervise we could draw after
the 3dstudio session. Call me tomorrow.
Arrgh! I'll go home now. I always get stuck in this stupid forum.

Ok, Little patience he has.
I got 30 sec from this guy on each and don't have anybody else to pose for me until tomorrow or so.

Was this the type of thing you meant?
Or should i add a body to one of the heads?

Looks very good, poxen. I have small tablet myself. I like the way you described the nose area. Just keep on doing this. Plan and observe closer more before getting the lines down. That way you'll get your drawing cleaner. Add a bit of the shoulder too so that you see that the head is connected to the body(it'l give a better impression in general too). I also would recommend drawing full figures too, maybe using your friends or something if your having problem problem finding a class.
Keep up the good work!
Anthony: Looking forward seeing your drawings.
I did 2 more. one of Kjetil(Nystuen), wich was in a rush so i only had a couple of
minutes. The other one i used crosshatching
in order to get more depth. Here they are:

Anyone else wanna do these?

Mikael.
