Ello, heres a little something I'm working on now. It's still quite far from being finished, but I thought maybe I can show you fine folks before I show the finished version.
I don't know why but my stuff never turns out too realistic looking, guess many years of drawing in a cartoony way have ruined me. Aah well..i'll get the hang of it one day.
Perhaps even having a tablet would help cos this mouse stuff is driving me nuts.
*bonks head on table*
--nope i didnt draw the rims, theyre just pics and distored to fit the angle, but work for now.
--And yes i think the lower front is a little plain too, hehe, but im working on it
**sorry if the pic is a bit big**

Err..I might as well ask this question again while I'm here. No one replied before, doh.
I was wondering if theres anyway to increase the number of layers I can use in Photoshop (5.5) For some reason I can't add anymore, and while merging down layers will let me create new ones I don't really want to since pretty much all the layers have different blending modes and opacity. phooey!
Guess maybe I over did it with the layers this time around, never had this happen to me before, so if anyone knows how to fix my problem id be very greatful.

looks nice! i'm not really in to this kind of images but anyway..
I've heard that the layer amount limit is taken away in version 6.0, haven't tried it myself though.
I was going to write something else too, but i can't remember what oh, whatever.

This is a typical car rendering with all the bells and whistles. But you can really jazz up your car renderings this way. Work some evening warm and cool into the red paint. A cool fill light from the sky will turn a red car.... purple. Hehe. Try to put some type of BG too, it looks too clinical on white, like a boring honda add.. And keep in mind that even though it is a reflective object, its not perfectly reflective, and there are matte objects on the car, so light and shade should be considered.
Look at car photography, they try to do all this stuff as well.
Get some dimension in the wheels, as well as the windows. They are not pasted on, they have a little relief to them. Loose the tire tread, you just dont see that stuff. Try to show the transparency of the glass by just having a lighter shape of what is outside the car showing through.

woo!..actual replies
tyron: thanks for the little info, i'll have to check version 6 out. I hope they really did get rid of a layer limit
*crossing fingers*
mr. spooge: wow, thanks for the tips!, even a quickie like yours there gives the whole car much more feeling.
I'll have a go at trying to add different colors into the reflections and still need to work on the window areas like you mentioned too.
Aye the background is plain but i wasnt told to do anything fancy with it, so its ok for now..maybe with other drawings i'll fiddle around with it.
And dagnabbit, looking at your work just makes me wish i had a tablet. Aah screw it!..ebay here i come..must..get...tablet!
