This started off as a little horse track gambler dude with those silly little transparent green plastic caps, and somehow managed to transmogrify into this mafia goon. I think it was because I was listening to the Grim Fandango soundtrack and got thinking of Chowchilla Charlie.
Anyways, I'm just tossin this image out for some crits and thoughts. It's style I think became mainly influenced by Grim Fandango, The Godfather, The Sopranos (though I've never seen the show, just some billboards here and there) and Joe Sorren.
My first initial thoughts (and of some of my friends) is that I should lose some of the monochromatic tone and add some subtle colour or more saturation.
Your thoughts? And I've kept this image in layers so I can actually implement ideas easily! yay!

looks cool. Reminds of the old newspaper jokes illustrations from the 50's or something. Could be nice to increase darkness in certain areas, to make it more like there's a outline drawn in the bottom. Like mouth, nose, etc... Also, the hand holding the cigar looks very good, but the other one could need some work.
keep up the nice work

My one crit is that some of your edges are a bit blurry (for instance, his cheek on the left side of the picture.) Cleaning up some of the muddiness would help a lot, I think.
