This is a critter I originally sketched for a game that some friends and I were working on a few years ago. I got bored friday night and decided to try a color rendition of him in Painter.
The fur sucks, and I didn't do real great picking colors . . . but I've always liked how this guy looked. Morphologically, I wanted it to suggest both primate and dinosaur traits.

Wow, a furry lizard. That's new in my book.
Nice morphology and nice lighting too!
Keep that thing in a cage though... looks a bit savage. |

I love this crazy thing! Looks like a deranged orangutan or something!
Personally, I like the colors you picked. He/she really stands out against that jungle color background. And that staring red eye is very creepy. Seems like it's looking right at me. =P

Thanks for the feedback guys . . . maybe I'll go back in and tighten it up when I get a chance.

Anyone remember Moonstones for Amiga? If Im not wrong it had monsters just like that in the bottom left areas of the map. |

This is great. You got a nice sense of form. And that complementary color contrast just pops it out of there. It looks just the kind of unfound creature that could really lurk somewhere deep in the Amazonian rainforest (the morphology thing). I't would be very interesting to see you work little more on this. You could add a little more contrast, stronger shadows and highlights to the fur. And maybe bring out little bit that branch the creature is standing on. It could have more brownish/reddish tones in it. And.. well, it looks very good already. I'm so bad at giving advices that I just stop my babbling here. |
