i dont mean to sound arrogant...
seriously i dont
but it seems as about a year ago maybe every week someone would come and say this is such a cool forum there are no crap pics.
(im not saying im good and im not trying to start any one). It seems as though about 8 a day are coming and the fact that there are so many new newbies makes it a crap forum. Some one new comes and goes this forum is shit because all they see is newbie shit.
any one agree with me?

Without newbies there is no one to learn.

Everyone is a newbie at some point in life...you gotta start somewhere

I reckon as long as there are good artists here and they enjoy helping out and they stay, everything is happy in my world, my reality.

peace,
-dhab

Pretty much everyone is a newbie, it's really just a question of degree.

I think that is a good thing, with such avariaty of quality I mean. Make you more motivatet to show, teach, learn, and enjoy art in many ways. And it's also very inspiring to see new people that comes in, with a great motivation and suddenly they have imrpoved like I've never seen before, that's what makes this forum so great.
Also, even if newbie stuff can be annoying to watch, I don't think you could appreciate those great pictures being posted from time to time without seeing the whole specter of quality.
SO, I agree with Dhabih

Yeah, we were all newbies at one point. We can't start the "I got mine" attitude now. Newbies are many things: sometimes talented artist, sometimes learners, somtimes a-holes, sometimes friends. That's what makes the forum interesting.

You have to think that even though someone is new to this forum, doesn't mean that haven't been practicing in the field longer than you have. You should be more selective with the way you phrase the term "Newbie".

So, did Dhab ever count as a newbie?
What about us few early forum goers.. way the heck back in '99.. what was that, some newbie get together fest?

I dont know what the hell I'm saying. I think I'm just bored.

Yes Sir! The late 20th century, oh those were the days. Not that I ever posted during the 20th century though.

[edit] and the next person to say that the 20th century ends December 31st 2000 gets a free color-o-rama portrait

Everybody is a newbie. There's no one person that knows everything about drawing. There's always more to learn and more to know. It's some people's own opinion to say that they are not a newbie themself. Well everyone should only be able to say out loud they are a newbie.

ey kig! Don't worry, it's still technically the 20th century! This New Year marks the beginning of the 21st.

I don't want to go into it, but we had a big philosophy discussion on it, and it is a fact that we're still in the 20th century...

Also, I agree with Dhabi, Joachim, and others. I think it's fun to see what the very beginning artist can come up with without influence from other people's styles or techniques. It makes you struggle and learn, and then they are those who become the masters!

That's if all goes well, and they don't quit

[edit] WOOOHOOO!!!!! A COLOR-O-RAMA PORTRAIT!!!

There was an ancient Japanese master who, well past his 70th year, delared that he had learned more in the past 12 months of his life than in all the previous decades. So we are all constantly learning. And I've only just registered in October, yet I've been doing art and receiving instruction off and on for over a dozen years. Am I a newbie? It's a judgement call, I guess.

I understand and respect your concerns Masaccio, but as long as those who want to learn can learn and get better here, the forum will remain strong. That is the point of the forum, to get help and help others, not to show off our cool stuff. Those who don't care to truly practice and improve will vanish as quickly as they appear.

yeah.. everyone is a newbie at some point, and we are all *new* to something somewhere in life.
As for newbies on this board well its not the newbies that are bad its the arrogent newbies that tend to try to hard or rip other ppl off.. and im sure we've all seen a few on here.
and i really think without some of the new members the forums wouldnt keep going.. after all isnt life just a cycle?

kick me if I'm wrong on this, but when Dhab started out, even he wasn't THAT amazing, he wasn't rock bottom, (I'm sure he deleted those images) but he wasn't amazing, just look at his level of improvement in the gallery, the stuff from 97 could be posted by newbies today, (although it seems we get almost NO burn/dodge rape cases anymore...

And ziss iz vot ve do to people who complain around here - ya?

But seriously, stop bitching at Masaccio people. He even said at the beginning:-

Whilst I don't agree that the influx of newbies has made Sijun a bad place to be, my main concern is that alot of people don't get the help they need because there are just SO MANY posts every day. Alot of the new people here (pierre etc.) are very good artists who's skills and help have made a very strong impact on the forum.

The forum is a very different place since I joined. I remember my first posting which said "Warning, newbie alert" in the subject header.

I guess if i say, even tho you didnt mean to sound arrogant, you did.

The forum would be pointless without new art, eventually everything will fall into place, the more people on the forum, the more replies you could get, so dont complain

hehe man... i need to post more....

Umm...Im new. And personally i think its good that theres more new people. The more the merrier!.
I know, theres gonna be a fair share of morons too, but they keep things going as well in their own weird little way.
If new folks never joined it would get too repetative in here and everyone would just kiss the best artists ass. With newbies you have more comments to things you doodle, more fans and maybe even more friends..so wheee!
newbies are win!

I think that no matter how "Bad" a piece of artwork is, it is still artwork and should be appreciated at a certain level. We newbies, basically came here to learn as well as share our work with the rest of you. I think it's awesome that Dhabih and the rest find the time to come here and post.

Do you mean newbie to the forum? If you do look to your left. Or newbie to Digital Art? I been doing it for 3 Years, and if all goes well professionally very soon. Newbie artist are cool, their not afraid to try anything, and sometimes they stumble across the coolest effect's etc... Finally, before you go looking at a "newbie's" artwork and laughing at it, Remember, there's another artist out there who could easily laugh at you. This isn't directed at any one person either, just a piece of my mind.

UHRG!
I don't like the fact that a lot of people think of all Newbies like new-beginners.
Just because they are new to the board does'nt mean they are new to the field.

I can't believe that you would want to keep this wonderful forum all to yourself! I know that where I attend college we have to combine 4 art classes into one room just because not enough students are signing up for the art programs. I think that it's great when new people discover art and develop a serious interest in it.

And although I am a newbie to this forum, I'm not a newbie in the world of art. I've been drawing ever since my hand was big enough to weild a chunk of compressed charcoal =D In the digital sense, I'm not as exprienced as most of you here - but I'm trying to get there! I think this forum will REALLY help me out. All the work here is truly inspiring.

Don't hate me 'cuz I'm a "newbie" :>
