I am trying to use more of a "fluid" or loose style. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress. Can I get some crits or suggestions?

hehe.. i ain't really good at critiquing All I can say is I really like the hair so far. It's got that neat texture especially at the place where it connects with the forehead. My suggestion would be try to make a few strands of hair stick out, because as of now it looks like they're all glued together. The face looks great so far.... dig the eyebrow and eye. But, IMHO, i don't think eyepatches are so shiny unless they're made of plastic |

Thanks man! The eye patch should be made out of metal. I think I'll rework it a bit so it looks that way. I still got a bit of work to add on the hair. Thanks for the crits!

Good start. I think the main thing with loose painting is to keep playing with the brush. You have to make the strokes show and not be so smooth. Try using a hard edge brush with more opacity. Also you are ending up with patches of uniform color. Try mixing some of the cloth color into the skin etc. Great start however, keep it up!

Well I don't want to make it too loose but just a tad bit looser than I normally do.
I don't try to make it look to impressionistic or painterly. I usually go for a smoother look.
