Hi,

This is my first message to this forum which url I got from a friend couple of weeks ago. been a 3d artist for some years now sort of ignoring 2d because lack of interest and skills, and lately it's been more like the reverse. I can't do anything in 3d anymore without concept sketching and when I look at the inspiring colored digital paintings posted here I really would love to be able to do the same. Still learning basic pencil drawing and learning anatomy but I'm really anxious to put my sketches to a higher level with coloring. So to my question, where can I find tutorials and books on this? Since there are so many talented and experienced artists on this forum I bet some of you even wrote one or two? any link or direct help for getting started in blocking out colors to fine tuning stage would be most grateful.

Thanks.

The best way to learn is to practice on paper and board with colored pencils, paints etc. If you can do this with actual paint/pencil etc. then you should be able to pick it up easily in digital. I have worked in paints and pencils all my life and just started digitally about a year ago.

thanks RobT practice will improve my skills, I can almost see that weekly, but I lack techniques and decent workflow. Your tutorial on your mindstorm site was basic but for a newcomer like me, interesting. thanks.

Check the link to the new F.A.Q. in the top of this page. I think you can find quite much information and links there.
