Hey folks, there was a really good sketch done of a samurai that was posted here about 5 days ago. I dont remember who posted it though, I think his name was Gontaro.
Anyway, I just thought it looked way too cool not to color. So, I went in to photoshop and did a quick coloring.
How's it look?

To be honest the coloring doesn't add much to the picture. I've repeated this a million times, but I guess I'll put it here too. You have to ask yourself whether the coloring you've done has added form to the drawing or if it just filled in the spaces. (I think Rinaldo is the one who told me that.) Gontaro put alot of detail in to the linework. The coloring doesn't quite improve on it. I'd suggest adding in more tones. |

I agree, it doesnt add a whole lot. Mostly I just thought it'd look nice colored.
I guess I'd have to say I filled in the spaces.
Thanks for the suggestion. |

Me like.
The style reminds me of some comic I read a long time ago, about some indians I think.

Adding color or not depends on the effect you are going for. If it is a bright colorful day, you want it...
If you are trying to display something not as joyfull, you want monochromatic.
Of course, there are other ways to use color/lack of color.
