That should make an awesome painting, especially if you manage to keep some of the freshness of the sketch.

You mentioned that you're not sure about the color scheme. I hope you don't mind, but I had a quick play with it and thought I'd offer this possibility:

Emotionally, I think it fits a bit better with the energy of the scene, and also makes more of an issue of the fire and it's heat.
Anyway, feel free to ignore me, I just couldn't resist the temptation to tamper.

you should make it in a letterbox aspect ratio or something...probably too much work though, but it would look even more cinematic than it already does!

I think the horse looks a bit small

if the knight would stand near the horse he would be taller than the horse by about one head
I don't know much about horses but I think they are about 6-7feet tall(if head up)

I don't think it is just you Superbug, the impression of the horse is indeed too small, even though it is in motion with the legs bent a bit in front perspective. The Knight's armour is quite heavy, competing with the horse and hence it will make the horse look even smaller since. Another thing that makes the small impression of the hors is that it is seen from the front, we don't get to see the full lenghth of the horse, nevertheless, its height should be bigger. No time wasted to wonder why it looks small, if that is the impression you get of it, then it needs to be bigger, simply as that. I will make it bigger, thanks for pointing that out guys.

That is a big problem that I almost always face, keeping, or importing, the freshness of the sketch into the final work. There is a tendency, I think, for a fear to keep a sketchy appearance in your final work, for different reasons. I feel that fear quite often. I like your color manipulation of the image rdgraffix, gave it a more infernal impression. Thanks, gave me new ideas.

I think I will make it some 3K. I will keep in mind to save the progress shots.

Great start! I would indeed make the horse a bit larger, if for no other reason than it would look more imposing.

The only think I would consider is changing the background on the right. The knights outline is getting lost against it. Maybe darkening it a bit, or even switching the colors. Either way it will increase contrast along that edge which will create more interest, as well as making the metal seem more shiny.
