the trailer is in japanese though ;( but it's still worth it. From people who have seen the whole thing (and understood it) say that it is 10x better than the matrix. Matrix was cool but the 102048 plot inconsistencies and the horrible acting of Keanu Reeves kinda made it dull, (after watching it for the 13th time

Hi
Today I saw in a movie magazine that it recently was a filmfestival in tokyo where they showed Mamoru Oshii latest movie called avalon.
the movie was a big success and cameron(james) said it was the most beautiful and stylistic perfect science-fiction movie he had ever seen, EVER !
Well, now Im looking for a trailer of the movie or pictures. Does anybody know where i can get it?? Or has anyone here been to tokyo and seen it already? And may give some exclusive info

I went to a screening of Avalon and Q&A with Oshii last month.

The film is really great, although it has a very slow pacing that will turn off some viewers. I actually liked the film much better after I had thought about it and digested it rather than while I watched it.

The CG work is very interesting. It creates a very specific look that pushes the live action film almost to animation. Oshii also shows the same flair for high-contrast images that he showed in GitS.

They're currently looking for an American distributor. Keep an eye out.

(i didn't turn the left side of my brain on when i watched it.)

avalon looks really cool, i wish i could understand japanese though.

A movie in Japanese named "Avalon" ? (how original) How many mechs or angels are they ? Gosh ... I'd give it a pass if I were you.

The text effects are also a rip off the matrix, so I spot no originality there.

Transcendant Avalon was made before The Matrix so its more like the matrix is unoriginal and ripping off of avalon. Ghost in the shell is avalon ...i think thats why you put it in parenthesis...anyway has a very well thought out and developed storyline. The storyline is much more sophisticated and creative than the matrix. For someone named transcendant I would think you'd like this movie...oh enlightened one
