Hmm my comp crashes over everything lately! I even reformated the HD - made it even more screwed up! I can't even use Scandisk or defrag, keeps goin in circles. But yeah, my browser crashes all the time, the illigal error thing keeps comming up and I have to restart to get rid of it!

Yes, it's Windows. I've had this problem for ages and the best way I've found to avoid browser crashing and/or computer lockups is;

a) Never use IE.

b) Run MemTurbo about once every 2-3 minutes.

If I adhere to those rules I can generally keep things together x20 longer than if I just do whatever. The crashing/lockups do still happen but no way near as often.

Row.

use NT or 2000 to avoid the crashes. i haven't crashed in 2-3 weeks. as far as browser's, IE is the best by far, i've never had probs on this forum, or most any site for that matter. my only suggestion would be to check for windows and IE updates regularly. also try and clear out your browser history, that *might* help...

or maybe, i'm just a lucky freak.

Hmm Win2000 all the way.
With 256 Ram.

You'll almost never crash.

Win2000 all the way....it reminds me of linux. If the program crashes your system doesn't crash it just shuts down the errant program.

Yes, I'm also using IE with windows 98, and i spend a good amout of time on the forum, checking it at least 5 times a day, and while i'm on it and loading a page, i can safely say that it freezes about 4/10 times.... Odd huh?

I can confirm on the NT thing.

I'm using IE 5.5, and haven't crashed once using the internet and I've had no trouble with the forum too.

2000 meets its match with LW6. Lightwave can blue screen it and corrupt all the files that were open too. Bonza. Nothing else has crashed it thou.

It does do some sort of memory dump b4 it restarts, not sure of the use of this.

Not like you can claim your object and scene files back from a memory dump is it?... Is it?
