I usually don't do this but I downloaded your picture and tried a couple of things...
-I thickened the lines that were outlining her
-fixed the nose up a little. The bridge was too straight - it was almost curving outward ala Beast from Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
-some of your skin tones seemed a little off. If I had more time I'd work on it some more but I don't...
The first one is yours...
...and this is my edited version.

Image looks good. I'd try and smooth out the hair lines and make them more curvy. At the moment they are straight lines at sharp angles to one another. Also, your dodge and burn on the face, particularly the left hand side of the image, is too dark and not gradual enough. Maybe go over it with an airbrush on a low setting and with 'screen' or 'opacity'

See ya on da flip side

Hey thanks everyone for some very helpful critiques.
thegrandfather - Yeah Wacom's really are that good!! I even surf the net using mine, hardly use the mouse at all now
Sa'ge - I have to work on the renderings of my noses, I usually have a little difficulty with 'em. I'll keep playing around with the eyes, make 'em more reflective.
StormVermin - Wow I've never had anyone edit one of my pics before. Nice job, I especially like the thicker lines around her shoulder and hair, makes her stand out more & she looks a little more comic booky I'll take your changes into consideration when finishing her off.
Matt Elder - Yeah her skin tones need a bit more blending. I knew that shadow cast by her hair was a bit too dark & sharp. As for my angular hair it's just a style I'm using at the mo' which I'm in the process of changing.. (maybe)
Once again thanks for all the crits.. It's a real big help. I'll have to post some more stuff soon.

Well after hanging around here for a month or so admiring all the great stuff people have done, I've finally plucked up the courage to post one of my images.
Only got a Wacom tablet a month ago (Jeez I now wonder how I ever managed without it.. I f**king luv the thing!!). The girlie was drawn in pencil, scanned in, then generous use of the burn tool was applied to make the pencil look more like ink (I HATE inking) and finally coloured up in Photoshop.
I'd like to get into comic colouring, but for now I'm holding down a crappy office job (that makes 0% use of my art skills) and drawing in the evenings.
Any critiques..??
Thanks for looking anyways..
Jonner

Great pic, but comic backgrounds are usually darker. it's a small point but that's what i feel. Also something about the lines bugs me, but it's probably cos you didn't ink it.
Are wacom's really that good: i've got money to burn and was considering buying one. |

Ya no problem man. (I had fun doin' it...)
When you finish her off, have her lips look more glossy (READ: shiney)...
To me, girls in magazines look a lot hotter when they are shiney, so I lightened up her face and sholder a little bit to add to my belief. ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |
