Greetings,

I have a few questions, here's a little background:

-home: iiyama 22" and sony 15" monitors, I want to run dual, I have an old matrox G100 AGP, it's crap but picture is good in 1600x1200 it was fuzzy on TNT2u.

Cards with dual outputs - on NT they could only run same refresh and same resolution. This is not an option for me due do very different monitors, I desperately want to know how does that work under windows 2000?? I am looking into buying a G450 or GeforceMX (how's picture quality in high res?) I don't want to buy G450 and then be stuck by having to purchase an additional card for second monitor. I remember G400s are pretty expensive. I'm on a tight budget since I need to upgrade other stuff too.

-work: G4 400MHz, a bunch of mitsubishi 91TXM (21") monitors, Mac OS8.6. I have only one video card in it, some ATI, how can I run dual monitors? Does MacOS 8.6 support it? If it can be done with an additional PCI card that would be very good, is it possible, simply installing another video card? I know PC hardware but not macs, I just work on macs :-)

Thanks in advance :-)

ciao,

I can't help you with the win2k setup, however Macs are very easy.

All you have to do is get a second PCI video card for your Mac. This can be either a regular Mac card, or I think you're even able to get a Voodoo based PC card, as long as you use the Mac drivers for the BIOS [you should be able to get "betas" online, just check first for whatever card your interested in].

Once you've plugged in the second videocard hook each monitor up to its own videocard and MacOS does the rest. Very easy.

Yup, that's the setup I have here, A crappy $30 monitor plugged into the built in ATI card on my G3, and the good monitor plugged into my XClaim VR.

Once you've got the PCI card installed open up your monitors control panel and it's about as simple as I can possibly imagine it being to get a second monitor going. I hear three or even four monitors are just as easy to get working.

Whoa! Christian's fast. anyway, too add to his post, Voodoo's got full version Mac drivers for some of their cards now. So you don't have to even struggle with a beta.

I have the matrox g400max dual card running on Win2k. It works great for my setup as I use Photoshop, Max, After FX, and Painter. I have a 21 inch monitor and a 17 inch. Wouldn't want to do my work without it. Also make sure when you install that you use the correct drivers. I initially had a few issues but reinstalling the os with all of the components installed solved the problem. I would imagine the G400 runs about 175 these days as I purchased early this year. I'm sure there are better dual cards on the market.

Good Luck
