I did a year's foundation course at Telford, I didn't come out with much academic qualifications (a few SVQ modules and stuff) but I got around 3 life drawing/painting/study classes a week plus a basic teaching in Design Studies, Exhibition Design, Interior Design, and a 4 month course in creative and journalistic (if thats a word) Photography.

If you're not wanting to enter a 4-year course or you're having trouble getting into Edinburgh, look in to Telford.

I'm only asking this because there seems to be some interest in the subject on the forums right now. I'm 21, currently in the final year of a Computer Sciences degree and _seriously_ thinking about Art School as I have no formal art training and would like to see if I can succeed in this area.

What confuses me is the large amount of different areas that people can go into. I would even be happy to go into teaching.

Can someone recommend the best open-ended area for illustration and design?
