Hi there,
I found The ART of the Matrix book at amazon.com, and it seems a great book. But for me 48$ without shipping are hell lot of money, so I was wondering if someone who has this book can post a few scans from it so I can decide shoud I or shoud I not buy it.
TIA

A freind of mine at work bought it. It's pretty cool. It's got all the storyboards and the entire script. There's a conecptual art section about 20-30 pages long with some cool geof darrow stuff. I'd buy it.

jcterminal-> warez a book of 300+ pages with a 2 page scans:-) heheheheheh interesting point of view. But i don't blame you, because you can't imagine people to work whole day for 15$ and to be Ph.D. so shut up.
agent44->thanks for the info.

i can also imagine a world in which you're not allowed to attempt to communicate with people of a specific language unless you understand *and* utilize their laws of spelling and grammar.

go to the goddamn library or a book store if you want to look at a book before buying it. that's what they're for.

scanning pages of other people's work is asinine and illegal. unless you get their permission. which i doubt was attempted.

define proper behaviour.

nevermind. i'm not going to argue the concept of 'proper behaviour' in a thread about STEALING ARTWORK.

correct me if i'm wrong (errrrrrrrrghh?) but by that definition and logic, if person X saved a picture off of the net to his/her own harddrive, and the picture was a scan of my own work example, it'd be breaking the law and stealing, no?

or viewing any image off the 'net for that matter.

*shrug*

Whats the difference between scanning a picture and posting it so someone can get an idea of the quality of the book, going to the library and photocopying the book, or going to the book store to look at it and memorize what it shows and recreating it at home? He only asked for a page or so to get an idea of the book. Not to rip the entire book online. Sure, its copywriten, but nothing can happen until you go to either make money off of someone elses work, or promote it as yours. Putting a page on a site so someone can decide if they like the book or not isnt doing any harm. In the end, they company will probably get their money from the guy who decides he wants to buy it. End the end, its free promotion.

Funny how you think asking to see a clip is automatically warez.. Where did that come from? Its no different than the publisher or Amazon posting a few chapters out of the book online for you to peruse. Wierd.. What I find assanine is charging your entire life savings for one piece of software.. Oh well.. no point in arguing, just my thoughts..

Scanning a pic and distributing it to other people seems like a copyright violation, but it falls under the fair use clause if it is for educational, satirical, or journalistic reasons (there are other reasons too, it's sort of vague).
Saving a pic to your HDD is not a copyright violation under any circumstances, but publishing it somewhere else, or posting the image somewhere ( even if linking to their server) might be.
