Okay, so I finished this tonight afterall :) Just my inked drawing colored in comic style coloring (or my attempt at it anyway). I'd love it if Liquid! could comment on this one, since their way of coloring is what I was trying to achieve:

Comments?

That looks great sc00p. I think you got the coloring down pretty good. You might want to play around with using 2 different color light sources in the future. Makes things look more dynamic. Now go critique mine.. hehe.

Yeah, I was gonna go back once I was finished and add a blue backlighting to everything. Last night around the 2 hour mark when I finished coloring this, I just wanted to post it and sit and watch some TV :)

Thanks for the comments guys

Coooool. That's great. I think it'd look awesome if you finished up the blue backlight, because that one arm that's backlit looks really good. Awesome job.

Sc00p: Have you ever done a background on your pics? I don't recall any of them having one.

For the first pic, not sure if this might help, but I think the reason the porportions are a bit odd is you need a little bit more shading. Try shading the parts farther away darker. Simply add a mask and pant black adjust opacity. yadee yadee.

Thanks guys.

I think I'm going to recolor most of this, except for the skin tones (which was my main purpose for attempting coloring again, since it gave me the most trouble, but now seems to be the stronger point of this coloring), and his right arm. When I have the time of course :)

Oh, also, cerebro: nytro.org doesn't have a mirror and won't be up for quite some time. I'll be sure to spam the forum once it's complete :)

EviLToYLeY: OR, it might have to do with that the feets are bigger than the head?

Sc00p: Cool pic.

Katana:

Basically I pencil a drawing, then ink it, scan it in, then start laying down my base colors. Then, setting the gradient tool to "screen" mode, I choose a screen color and begin to add radial gradients to various selections I make with the lasso tools. All done in photoshop of course. Somewhere on this forum I have a huge 2-screen long step-by-step process I go through, but I'm having trouble locating it at the moment :)

When my site's back up, I'm sure to include this as a how-to, once I'm settled in.

NOTE: It is a LOT more than all this, but this quickly is how I do it anyway, not to say its the proper one.

Anyway, thanks again for the comments everyone :)

great coloring on that 2nd one as well. you tend to go a *tad* over board on the special effects, looks really good however. Get your site working! I want to see your tutorial

Very Very Cool. Looks like you have got it down. Humor me for a minute and simply explain the process. I have always been a sketcher and not very skilled at color.
