rip open a pillow and use one of those feathers for ref.

Best way to do this is to try and draw a feather out of memory, without reference. Then, you find a real feather in your house, compare it with your drawing, and find out what's wrong, fix it, then you're sure to never forget how to do it.  |

or go find a dead bird that your cat killed, take a few pictures of it, do what snake said, and compare. That way you have more than feather/perspective. I did it with a squirrel my cat [the great orange hunter..] killed recently. Helps with some anatomy too |
