Well, I took the advice of staying away from the smudge tool no matter how hard I wished for it. This is all just paintbrush in photoshop.
The scalpel type thing on the right doesn't look very good...whatever though.
Any comments/advice/criticism would be appreciated.

Good boy Rossimo, continue to keep away from the smudge tool because it got some serious infective viruses. You will gain alot about color without it. If you paint without the smudge, everything that you will put on your "canvas" has to be clear on your "palette". Now if you use your smudge tool, some of the colors that you will see on your board will be a result of a smudging, not you blending them. I think that you get alot more of control over your work if you can get your colors on your canvas as they were when you blended them on your palette. But then again, it is all up to you and the way you are most comfortable with, and of course, how you want your final works to look like.

Although I do enjoy a nice smudge debate, I would also like some critique on the actual painting
Thanks guys.

Hello Im new to this place and no one is giving me any help either.. just though I would try my best to comment on yours...
One thing that bothers me when looking at your picture is the stray marks everywhere.. some stray marks would be fine where they are but some of them need to be cleaned up or else I have a hard time figuring out what somethings are.. like those things attached to his head.. It took me a while to figure those out.. And then what is the red and grey stuff in the right.. I haven't a clue what htat is?... Your style deffinitely is very sweet looking, I love the anger and pain that I feel when watching the heavy lines and dont get me wrong because some stray marks add to your style and make it very cool! |

Ok. I took off the crap on his head (even I didn't really know what they were supposed to be...) and I redid the right side. I think it looks better now.
Anyways, next time I work on it i will do more color work, and some shape refining on the face, and probably add an ear or a sign of where an ear used to be before it was removed.
