Some more B+W pencil stuff. I don't know why I've been doing nasty horror stuff of late (probably just in one of those moods). I was contemplating putting something in the artist of depth comp, but I dunno.
This started as a sketch which I redid bigger on some watercolour paper. due to some stupid dual house living of mine I could not bring it back to my
"computer home" . So I re-did it. this version is better in many ways but worse in others. I;m not too happy about the hand on the right. and the face on the other one looked like it would eat this guy for breakfast. one of those frustrating things.
Anyway I'm going to paint over it digitaly. or possibly just repaint it altogether.
I was after your opinions etc.

Rinaldo, this is really nice. This style is very solid, and gives a very nice sense of depth. Why don't you do this style more often? This is so solid. YOu should be able to work any type of art, be it conceptual, illustrative, whatever, in this way/style. It is rock solid. Looks a bit like Frazetta's pencil sketches. Very cool. Do you have anymore like this?
THe hands are especially impressive. Right shoulde could use a bit more solidifying, a core shadow separating the top plane from the front plane would help make it look a bit more dimensional.
Excellent work... |

hey cool pic rinaldo! great pose, gives a good impression of how the creature would move around. Really nice lighting and shading too. I think the teeth could use some more defining tho, look a little flat.. |

Hey, Rinaldo.
Like everyone else said, nice work. The arm on the right is weird. The shoulder and upper arm are not bound. Almost looks like armor. But overall very nice. Your recent stuff, in general, has been a big step up in quality. Great to see you bustin' ass Good show. |

Thanks for your nice comments everyone
ceenda-All talk no action... that's me
Pierre-Thanks, Do you mean traditionaly colour or digitaly? I've been busting to do a water colour for ages but I'll probably paint it in PS or Painter.
Fred- Thanks, Yes that was sort of my reasoning for exploring this sort of thing, it's easy to adapt to most circumstances, and the skills you learn can be applied to a broad variety of media. I don't have anything of this quality in this style, besides the other pencil fantasy faces I posted a little while ago. they're not as tight or solid as this. I was thinking Frazetta when I did this. just trying play around with the light and dark. I'm going to do a watercolour soon as well, be interesting to see how much better I am at doing that now.
Jenn-I think it's the teeth, probably also those litle dudes in The Darkness, they have the same set of chompers .
Cos-I wasn't sure about the teeth. Maybe I should have defind them more but I didn't want to spoil the clean white too much.
Lukias-I don't have a site (I should get one up) but the images are stored at http://dove.net.au/~jbrasted/ there's tons of stuff there tho. the files are gremlinnorm.jpg and gremlinsmall.jpg although I suspect that it was only a temporary glitch and you should be able to see them now.
AliasMoze-Thanks, yes can see waht you're saying about the arm/shoulder. Hehe I feel like I've been bustin' my ass of late. Not that it's a bad thing, I wish I could bust my ass on stuff like this a whole lot more actuialy.

Rinaldo,
This is good, very good. I think that you could work out some more volume on the left arm, but it won't suffer as it is though.
Do you intend to color it?
