Hrm, I have a question about creating the texture effects on differnet materials when you are doing a digitla painting.
What are some techniques in doin' so. I remember back then it was just creating some filters.. on some other layer and using the overlaying or whatever effect so that the underlaying object would look textury.. bu the problem with that it's not very random.
Can some of you great artists out there post some examples of good texturing and your techniques/approach in doin' them.
It woudl be hell to draw the texturing on say.. a.. big big grassy jacket..or mbe it's not.. and makes it luk better...

hmm they way i texture is using a seperate image and selection of the area you want to add the texture to.
You first open the texture and slecet it all and define it as a pattern, then go back to your main image and the selection for texturing. create a new layer, put it on multiply and fill > pattern, then just adjust the opacity till it looks right..
that may not work for all kinds of images but i only ever used it on skinning and interfaceing.

yeh i know of tha tway. dat's like.. for really.. not for painting. i'm talkina bout paintintg.. and not like interfaces and stuff. cause then if u use the texture like dat. it won't look very realistic because things are not very random.
Aside from drawin' it stroke by stroke.. which most peopel do are there someother way.. jsut wondering.. i'm Cool with stroke by stroke cause that makes it ulk kewl.. and it requires lots of skill... so dat's kewl tooo. waiting for my tablet...sweet. Blueberry colour all da way!

Use 'search' on this topic. I think Craig Mullins posted a bunch of his background 'texture' jpgs a while back.

Id like to know that as well.. do you just alter your strokes and make try and make a discernible pattern, or maybe paste a texture on there.. or look at photo reference.. hmm i wonder, i guess you can do it any way heh.
Gee, I thought I was the only one that wore a 'grassy jacket'
