hmm, well, the colors look nice, but the man looks like a wood-figure. you should have a look on other pictures to get the anatomy right.
oh, and the hat is above the head not on it.
it has to be put downwards a bit.
btw, the fence looks nice |

Like I said Neofun, I just dodged and burned with photoshop. I laid down a medium blue color, then just lightened and darkened diferetnt areas of the pic. No other colors besides the blue though. I guess this would be an example of a monochromatic picture. |

I like his expression. His face almost looks kind of like clay. |

Purely DODGE AND BURN images suck!
If you spent money on a tablet, use
it to your advantage and just draw
something with paint! Dodge and burn
a few areas to show a highlight or
shadow....I never use the Dodge tool,
i'd rather just go into paint settings and
switch it from normal, to soft light or something to get a shadow effect...
Because Dodge and Burn are the EXTREMES
of both light and dark, an image purely
based on those extremes won't attract the eye...it will end up looking blurry, and
messy.
I'd suggest using these tools lightly...
unless you've thought out a really good
shadow & lighting image, where you use
the tools in the right area.

for some odd reasons I see 2 pics .. if I focus on the figure I see a man standin to his right side .. whis is like woooden lookin figure .. but if I focuse on a skys then I see a woman standin against a fence with her back toward us .. and her leg is comin out out of the dress .. ..
could be just my no sleepin eyes or maybe someone else sees it too =) |

I see it too now that you mention it. looks a lot better when I see the woman
I'd stay away from D+B. just use two colours if you want that effect. It just looks bad, dunno why I just don't like it. \
Doesn't teach you much. if you want to keep things simple then use B+W you'll get much more stylish images. If for some reason you really have to then stay away from the fuzzy airbrushed look. Don't fudge everything with the fuzz, keep it clean. |
