ok, i've been trying to study Spooges way of art and I got the majority of the way he works. I like the way he does his uther, flags, mrbeef pictures and thats what I have been working on. But I have a few questions, well maybe a little more then questions. I've made a few paintings with that style, but I've lately had a little trouble. I'm trying to make a picture for my friend of a girl laying on the beach, but she is mostly naked (don't ask), and it seemed to get to me how you do this because theres a lot of the same shades and i can't define the area of the arm and the back, I played around with it all day yesterday and thought maybe if you could help me by doing a little tutoria of using this picture as a reference and then e-mailing me at [email protected] with the full sized picture and a little explination... I guess its a lot to ask but i had a tuff time.

if spooge could do it thats great, or if anyone else that can do his style! please do help, here is the reference pic.

Thanks for the help

Hmmm, really only the arms I have worked on, and I really don't like it much. Don't mind the face though :P

I guess some people still don't get the 'paint from reference'. For them it means 'trace over a photo as quick as you can' (and don't even bother hiding it).

Hahaha..

No hard feelings

Ok whatever, i'm not looking to make a painting just trying to get basic strokes down, its not like i am trying to paint a picture for show, i just want to get the pattern and style down so try to take that into consideration, thanks.

I just want some help on a good way to mix the skin tones together between the two arms and body. Please.

You have to sharpen your axe a little. Be a lot more sensitive to the very subtle changes in value and color. Use the dropper to see differences in areas.

I am not sure what you mean by pattern and style. Don't think about that stuff. Paint what you see- exactly. If you are patient, it is not that hard at all.

This photo is really awful to work from. The shiny skin and fake fill lighting is confusing. It is difficult making heads or tails of what is going on lighting wise.

Get a better photo.

I wish there was something I could tell you to quickly solve your immediate problem, but there isn't
