These are quick litte sketches I draw on my old business cards during renders or long file saves. Any likeness to any known person living or dead is purely coincidental.

I'm another Presto person. I mainly produce textures but I also get my hands wet doing a little bit of everything. As most of you know there's a lot of design talent for me to learn from here, Francis, Ron (fred) and Phil are fantastic artists.

My site is digitalderek.com, give me some feedback if you have the time.

nice sketches,

That's a bit of a sad thing with those (big) american companies. That everyone is so set to do just one thing. Personally I would never dream of doing just one thing. And, in my personal opinion, you should be doing much more than just textures....as it seems you are more than good enough to fulfill other tasks.
Anyway, just an thought/impression I've got of some companies. Esp. ILM, etc.. that people are being put into small cubic offices to do exactly what they are being told, which maybe is good for a company, but surely not flexible enough for those who want to learn and enjoy the art for all it's splendid sides and possibilities.

Like for ex. I do character animation, but if the company would not have let me design and model and texture some characters of my own, as long as it's something they feel that I'm competent of, I would have never have liked that situation.

Huhm, sorry, I'm probably way off...this is not you situation, and I'm sure you guys at presto have a nice community and teach eachother lotsa things, but it's a good topic anyway

Derek is amazing. He is another example of doing many things and being good at all of them. Our studio seems to be filled with em. Derek is no exception. I thought You put up your web site, this page of sketches rocks. THere are so many here you never show.

Awesome page...
