Well, this isn't my area of expertise by any means, but I think I can answer your questions.

First off, yes, it's very likely that Spooge used vanishing points off the sides of the page. The farther apart your VPs, the less distorted the perspective. I'm not sure what method he used to draw the cubes - whether he started with a larger image and cropped the edges, or just eyeballed it. Either would work.

As for having two cubes at different angles - you got it right. Each cube needs its own set of vanishing points. Honestly, I couldn't tell you how to figure out "If I want these cubes to be at 45 degrees to each other, I have to put the VPs here and here..." I usually just eyeball it.

And, incidentally, most of my cube exercizes have been on paper.

Greetings everyone, I'm new to the forum....have been reading it for a while though jus never registerd....what interested me the most was the great tutorials fred and spooge did....sorry..I know I'm late on those, but I'm seeking some information on the topic of the cubes exercise....maybe some of you who have been through the course can help me out....I don't understand how to make 2 cubes like the ones spooge did....I understand 2 point perspective, but it looks as if his vanishing lines run to vanishing points located off the page.....I always thought you draw a HL then at the far ends of the page place your vanishing points on the HL.....is the reasoning for having vanishing points off the page so the cubes will appear bigger?....how would you go bout creating vanishing points that are off the page?.....also....I noticed that one of spooge's cubes is rotated slightly.....It looks to me like each cube has its own HL...I tried to kinda trace his vanishing lines back to vanishing points and it seems like there would have to be 2 HL's to achieve what he did.....I could be completely wrong though....maybe I don't know what I'm talking bout...someone please xplain to me how he achieved making 2 cubes like that with jus 1 HL if thats what he did....I will be working on some cubes soon.....btw....I'm curious as to what tools some of you used to create your cubes...jus list some tools if you have time (I will be using PSP ver. 6 and Photoshop)....thnx
