T'is evil! evili say!

I doodled a logo http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000554.html for a nonexistant grindcore project, then realized that the name was perfectly suited for a now nameless (the original name was allready in use) project of me & some friends. So i decided to give it another shot, but much more traditional and readable.

Shoot.

It's handdrawn by the way, no typefaces used.

I never would have guessed that it said EPHEMERAE!

The "E" is very unclear especially the first (mirrored) one....

Otherwise, nice work I like!

Heh so far for the "readable" part

I inverted the e for 2 reasons : the main onw being symmetry. It loox much more balanced and symmetric this way. The other one is..well... for fun it adds something special to the word. Just a gimmick.

The style of it looks really good but my only problem is that I can't read it. If you are going for something that is between friends then fine, as you guys probably understand it but if you go for a wider audience, it will be lost on people. I think it is mainly because of the first and last letter are too obsecure. The other thing might be to try and space the individual letters a little bit further apart as I struggled to make them out.

Apart from that, it does look good though.

um. Actually I could read it fine. What I have trouble with tho are graffitis. My grafer friend tells me it needs practice to read them but I could read this fine Spitfire. Of course if you want to make any publicity with this you should opt for something really easy to read.
I mean anything from a website to a packaging name shouldn't take so much as a glance to be identifiable. Complex and generaly warped typefaces have been flooding everywhere for some time but are SO overated now. It's like shooting yourself in the foot if you spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$ advertising something people won't bother to read. Everyone knows customers/consumers are lazy Eh, we live in the 30 seconds-concentration-span era !

Now I'm not saying this about your EphermeraE. Because I like it. Dunno why but just plucking my 2c in here

btw,... idiot frenchie girl here.. but "grindcore" ?..

Walk into a CD store, ask where you can find the grindcore (huh? whatcore?) Cd's and show me at least 3 ones that have readable logo's In this branch of music, readability isn't all that important. Through 'zines, sites and word of mouth, people know what they want. And trust me, to grindcore standards, this is a very boring and "clean" logo.

Oh, Egerie : grindcore? heh. Saddle up.

First there was "rock" but it wasn't hard enough. So people added influences from acid jazz & sped the whole thing up a bit : heavy metal. Ofcourse, to some people it still wasn't hard enough. So they, again, sped things up, added more technical diversity to the music and ta-daah : trash metal. Well, some people are never pleased. So those that thought trash metal wasn't hard enough threw in some new drumming techniques (maintained double-bass, blastbeats) and a much more harsh vocal style and behold, Death metal was born. Well, by now you should see it coming.... yep, for some people it still wasnt hard enough. *gasp* So they threw away a bit of melody and diversity, added a spoonfull of hardcore, backed the deathmetal vocals with high-pitched shrieks and there we go : grindcore. Pretty much the absolute border of extreme music. Guaranteed to make a limp bizkit teeniebopper loose control over his bladder.

And ofcourse there's some sick bastards out there that want to go any further down the path of "is this still music?" (we) and add noise/power electronics to the blend. Yummy.
