Hmmm i don't really like it either. I'll justify why. The round gear-like thing just doesn't connect with me. It's too out of place. I do like the person though. I think that's the high point in the pic.

I friggin hate it! Just kidding I actually like it. Reminds me of Alex Ross for some reason. I also can't help but to think of Mike Meyer's Saturday Night Live skit.. "I'm sprockets"

Hi there!
Nice seeing a new post from you again..
I kinda like it actually.
I like the thing over the guys head, but i think that the head could be more worked on.
I think you should see a little more of the head and maybe show more of the side of the
sides of it.It's basically just the cropping that doe'snt make any sense to me.
Did this make any sense.

Don't you get it? Factories. Machines. Gears.
That's the dreammachine!

The smoke is dreamclouds like you see in cartoons/tv, or that dreams have like a fluffy/cloudy feel to them.

And with dreampictures you mainly just see the persons eyes, or maybe the mouth too in a way. But i think it's fine as it is...

Quite effective, affected, I see what you are getting at here, tubes and gears ... extracting thoughts, churning dreams ...

This picture's great, but somehow, it doesn't look complete. As it stands it looks quite obscure, try adding more machinery above his head, and let the tubes actually connect somewhere, I'm sure you see where I'm going.

Hm, why'd this generate such a lot of replies... Odd. In any case, 20-30 minutes or so might be accurate, maybe a bit more. I did spend a little time making some smaller sketches before making this, though. As for what it is, I think seas got it down pretty accurately - I actally feel a bit nave making stuff with such blunt symbolism... Maybe I should've named the picture something else. :P Oh, Bubonic, I don't have time right now, so maybe you should e-mail me or something. I think you could probably get better tips by browsing the stuff people have posted here, though.

I like it. It's a great concept.

Can you post your preliminary sketches?

You may have inspired me to try something
like that...
