I'm going through that right now, but this time I'm just forcing myself to draw. i.e. the crap I posted earlier today. Its like how I play basketball. I'm gonna keep throwin up bricks until I get in the zone again. |

Sounds burnt out... that happens after overwhelming amount of work -- take a break!
Relax!
For some people, pressure can really motivate to get the best work out; but afterwards, your mentality just collapses...well mine does =)
Haven't found a way to combat this, I just end up feeling very cold. Sometimes I'd flip through Impressionistic paintings (van Gogh, Monet) and admire their vibrant subjects... all that color seems to light a fire in me... kind of religious experience in a way

In my opinion you produce your best work when you are confident. And thats not only art related, it can be said about anything.
Doubt creeps in after you finish something really good and have to immidiately start working on something else and you don't know if you can do as good of a job as you previously did It helps me when i say i am gonna do an even better job.
Another case (in my opinion) is when your brain gets tired thinking about the same thing for too long, a creative jar depletes itself, because the excitement is gone. Very often after finishing a site for anotheruselessbusiness.com i couldn't think of anything cool for the next project.
Finding some awsome reference or looking at another awsome site or flipping through a design book would fix that for me.
Das my 2 cents. |

I spent alot of time producing crap but I don't get mad cause i've learn something. You can't just make good art right away when you try something |

It very frustrating when you get into these periods, i doesnt seem to do anything about it really, just feeling a little sad and waiting for it to pass. Sometimes im in an incredible creative mood, feel like i can do anything (practically laughing at Frazetta and Bisleys work... no, not really but almost)
And sometimes it feels like im defenitly not meant to do art, its strange though, because as soon as i get to do art for someone else then just myself its alot easier, dont know why. |
