I use only a mouse.

These people use only mice, too.

Gigabyte's site. He sometimes uses a tablet, but most of his stuff is mouse.

Darrin Moore's site. He uses PS 4.0 and mouse.

If those two don't convince you that you don't need a wacom to color, I don't know what will.

Craig mullin's older stuff was done with a mouse http://www.goodbrush.com/ In particular the 500 nations stuff I think. I'm not sure if you mean colouring as in colouring of line art or similar tho. Even tho that sort of thig is helped by a wacom it's one of the things that is extreemly possible with a mouse. use lots of selections. also utilise the 1-0 number keys. they change the opacity of your brush.

Yeah, Craig's 500 Nations pics are all the proof you need that it's possible to color with a mouse... I swear those look like photos...

What I used to do when coloring with a mouse is make a lot of masks with the lasso tool and paths. Because you have a little less control over mouse than tablet you can make some guidelines.. it helped me out anyway.

This is something I did with the mouse a while back. But I'll be damned If I'm going back to the mouse Me likey tablet. Much faster.
