Hey this is a 3d barbarian type character I'm working on for a personel project. I've kinda come to a block and cant figure out what to do for the waist down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and if you see anything wrong with what's already there I'd like to know that too! Thanks!

Good job so far coconut!
A couple things... you may want to rotate the hands so that the thumbs are pointing forward as opposed to up. See how your own arm bends when you have your thumbs up or forward. When you have your thumbs pointing forward, your arm bends pretty much in one axis. When you have your thumbs up, your arm bends in two axies (sp?) Your elbow doesn't twist a full 90, maybe something like 60). This will help a lot when you decide to put a skeleton in him. I hope I explained that properly.
Also some anatomical corrections... I'm not perfect with anatomy so maybe someone else could give you a better critique... Try to flesh out the pectoral muscles better. They are more flat as they attach to the shoulder. (It looks like you modeled them as if his arms are down) Grab your pec and then raise your arm to the side. Feel how it expands? Also try putting the abs on an angle. Looks as though they stick out on the same plane. Also round them out on the sides. Define the ribcage. For more info, use a muscle mag for reference.
It looks as though you are making some good progress. Keep going I'd like to see the final version. As for the lower body maybe some furry sheep skin pants? Or big metal thigh guards, nude?
Here's a barbarian model i did about a year ago.... kinda funny to see old stuff..

The forarms need to be more muscular, and the bicep and tricep more defined, IMO. Not super hero style, just like a warrior would be

Longer sword, barbarians weren't much for the short sword. |

Well, I like the swords design, but I think it could still use some more length. Take a look at weapons from those days. Broadswords, etc were generally like 3 ft long. That short sword just sort of looks out of place on such a big guy. |
