Finally done.....kinda. I'm having problems with the picture quality though. It seems whenever i save something to jpeg the color of my picture i sMUCH different. Is there any way to get awesome quality pics without losing the nice photoshop feel ya know? Oh yeah, i know u can set the quality from 1 to 10, but it still doesnt help.

My pic seem smuch richer in photoshop....anyways. I think im done it. Any wild comments are appreciated!

I save all my stuff in TIFF format so it's quality is preserved (but that's just an old habit from when I was a digital technican for a print shop, not to mention the file size can get huge!) It seems that JPEG, and I don't know if this only holds true for PS, has problems with keeping the colors of gray when compressing to JPEG. Try setting the compression to 12 and see if it still creates the problem, although size might become a matter :\

Well I tried to help hehe

Nice picture!

There are several types of file formats.

First, the lossy type, like JPEG, and GIF. When you save an image in those formats you lose a lot of information. In the case of JPEG, every time you save again, you lose a lot of quality. NEVER EVER use JPEG for the master copy. In the case of GIF, the number of colours is reduced to a maximum of 256 (or less). So in this case too it's lossy. You shouldn't use a lossy format for your master copy any more than you should, after drawing something on traditional media, photocopy it and keep the copy (and throw away the original). Although, depending on the compression ratio, the loss isn't as bad as with a photocopy, but you get the meaning. And even with the highest quality setting there is still some loss.

The advantages of these lossy formats, though, is that they take a lot less space than a non-lossy format would. So when you need to show it on the web, quickly, or as a preview/thumbnail, use a lossy format.

Then, on the other end of the scale, you have the non-lossy formats, such as TIFF, TGA, 24-bit BMP, PSD... use these formats for your master copy, but don't put them on the web cause they're huge!!! One potential exception is PNG, in the 24-bit mode, which can be lossless and still is almost decent. Still, I wouldn't keep my masters in PNG if I were you... but if you need to show something full quality, over the web, use PNG.

Hope this helped!

Daniel

Forgive-ah-me sir for my useless ramblings!!
I love the pic, reminds me of some character, I forget who though, maybe Soul Reaver game or something, or Magus from Chrono Trigger! Love the dark style.
One thing that kinda looks "odd" (If I may say so, even though I am odd, and my drawings are odd, and ... and...), anyhoo, the part that looks odd is the shingles on the roof where it curves. (The sides basically). It sorta looks flat out, when it should get thinner and thinner until correct POB is achieved. Just my two cents though, thats all i have...... should be getting that ob at canadian tire soon, so I may upgrade my "comments" to "just my 2 dollars" or something like that... hehe
