Hi everyone. Just thought I would attempt to get some feedback on this WW2 protrait I did. (Yes it lacks a background, I just dont really know what to put back there.) Anyways Please Critique.
Thanks, Brett

It's looking good so far, but you need to refine.. a lot. But I'm sure you know that. I like the lighting so far. His left ear is a bit screwy tho. I like it so far tho

Great topic for that pic! Hard to do though. But, I think his lips look wierd. I can't exactly say what it is, I just think that they are looking to fat(?). Perhaps those painting gurus can tell you what it is.

Thanks for the replies.
About the lips. I have also noticed that they are a little unproportional and I think I will change them and maybe add some more depth to them. And about the background that is one of the main problems... Space. Not to much to work for, Kind of a bland pose of the guy I guess. Ohwell. Later.

Oh yeah. Aquamire why do you think I should refine more? So far I have spent 3 hours on this one total. and its in lik 2k x 1.2k res. Im not to sure I want it to be photographic looking... Ohwell, looking forward to hearing why you think I should.

I think you need to refine more because the colors seem to bleed into each other to much.. parts of the face that should be destinguished arent.

I think you have a very interesting style going there, but yes you could refine some more. Apart from that, perhaps a good idea for a background may be a battle field after a huge battle had just commenced. Something people might be able to recognize - even with the limited space that is availible -

Maybe stick a few smaller guys in the bg in a searching pose. Something like a unit of troops exploring a new area. Maybe add some distroyed buildings or trees as well to give it a more defined environment.
(Then again you might not be able to fit all that in such a small space hehe)
