Here's a drawing I just did in a life drawing class I'm taking. It's a 12 hour pose done over two days. I used a Generals 4B charcoal pencil and smooth newsprint. Let me what you think.

I like the pose. You did a nice job rendering the figure. However, I think it needs darker darks and lighter lights. It seems stuck in a middle grey area which leaves it looking a little blah. Also, nice attention to detail.
Is that a picture of Ted Danson with a mustache on the wall? |

The skin tone is lovely on her, and I also like the pose. Can't imagine standing like that for hours, models really have a tough job!

My god that's good. Only crit I can give is that it looks like her jaw is coming forward (forward for her, not forward towards us) and it makes her look a little masculine.
Great job.

Thanks for the compliments.
agent44: I actually did pump up the contrast in Photoshop after I scanned it in, but that's one of the drawbacks to working on newsprint. The paper itself already has a light grey tone to it. I could try going in with a white pencil though. I'll try that next time. And it's actually Matt Dillon in the picture, don't ask me why.
StormVermin: Ya, you're right. The back is a little too wide also I think. Gotta be more careful next time.
Thanks again. Keep on drawin'. |
