Hey VEBJORN, I hope you see this thread, I need some info
I am soo happy that you showed us some steps on how you work. I hope you continue to do more tuts.
Before i ask you a million questions, I should state how I did this image.
I used painter and NO Layers.
I used the sketch you provided on your website and used your other images as references. My colors came up lighter than yours did though. There's that tonal problem again
OK...here are my questions, most of these are just things I picked up along the way as I did this..
I'm horrible with metals, and you have some very nice soft metallic surfaces, how did you retain all that detail in the metal cap and still lay in color? did you sketch out the designs after you laid down the color or what?
Any chances you doing a tut on metals?
I tried my best to get the skin as translucent as possible, but it didn't work out.I noticed on your image you managed to sneak in some hints of the skin being slightly translucent, any tips on how to achieve this? I tried use lighter tones and blending them in,but it didn't work.
That's all the questions I dare to ask right now.
here is the image, this is the exact size I worked in. I didn't scale it up. If I scaled it up I'm almost certain I would have spent too much time with the detail.
Like Spooge and Fred and the others, You are great source of information and inspiration. I have learned a great deal by working on this tut, and I will continue to study this style more.
I saw one other person posted a version of the tut, anyone else got some to show?

Well, i didnt see that tutorial you're talking about, but its working
Your pic is very nice man. I LOVE the way you coloured the body. The only thing I dont like about it is the face. Not the colouring though, just the shape of it, seems a little off...doesnt look like the nose has any volume...or maybe someone smashed it in
Anyway, awesome pic nonetheless !

I didn't realize it before, but I never saw the full size image of this.
There was alot of stuff I missed or couldn't see because the images I had where small. I see how you got the skin to work now, but I'm still fighting with that metal stuff. |

i agree 100% Seph|roth, i hate the face, I fought with that @#$%ing face for along time. I was working at a small rez so I was forced to use a larger brush and keep from putting in details. I'll re-run the script in painter at a higher rez and I'll fix all the things I missed. Thanks for the comment..
The tut is on Vebs home page..

Well..You`re definitly following the tutorial;-) Which was the plan too. Metal..just use smaller brushes and higher rez, maybe also use more features(more brushhairs) to your brushes. And put in more details. Metal look more shiny when you have more contrast aswell. Also, you can find an ornament reference somewhere and use as guid to adding details to metal stuff,
