I drew up this Megaman like character during English today and wanted to draw him... only I want the red parts to look more metallic. Could someone maybe work HIS RIGHT ARM with your own technique for metallic so I can get some ideas?

Post and give me your crit as well.

Thanks all around guys...

Actually, the picture you are looking at above is a retry of it I am doing with some "anime colouring" techniques (I hope).

I think it looks pretty metallic already. I like the figure itself too. Love the way the large forearms and large legs balance him out. Looks cool. Maybe you could smooth out the lighting a bit, though? Maybe some less abrupt transitions?

Add highlite's and reflections from surrounding objects like his torso on the arm, remember paint on metal is usually highly polished to almost a mirror like surface. For reference go outside and study your car and how surrounding objects relate to the surface. And keep in mind that light can at times leave a pure white reflection.

Ha cool... thanks guys! I am re-doing some lighting with little hints of another light source on his metal. I came up with a head for him too but as of writing this it's on paper. I will have to scan it in. (He looks like a 14yr old - blonde, with goggles on his forehead read to kick some ass.

I think I found my style... and my character.
