Hi there.

This is probably the first time I have used the paintbrush in Photoshop instead of the airbrush so it's sort of a new experience for me. I hope you like it.

Cheers for the complements guys!

Harnish Studios: Mostly using the photoshop brush with size and opacity set to variable.

above: Yeah, I was working from a reference photo.

Nex: I don't think the grand masters of sijun will be looking to hire hitmen just yet.

kewl! Very nice. Great sense of scale and atmosphere.

I do think you could improve on the shadows. They look a little flat someplaces. The foreground rock should maybe have some detail. No shadow is so completly dark as that one. It looks more like a hole in the picture than a foreground rock...

Otherwise it's really awesome! Keep it up!

incredible.. great detail and color..

one thing that bothers me a bit- there seems to be a layer of myst at the horizon, yet the landscape doesn't seem to fade into it..

Wow. Yah looks almost like a photo.. looks like switching to paintbrush was a good move :)
Only things i find disturbing are the very dark areas at the left corner and right side.

hey... isn't that a... a.. small Birdwalker, hiding in the shadows! You've been there too! You have seen the things I have! Isn't it a wonderful, wonderful place...

Anyway, the pic is really nice.

mmm, you just improved a ton overnight. The foreground shadow does look a tad flat, and if this is earth, the shadows should have a touch of blue in them, but otherwise beautiful textures, etc. Amazing how much you've improved in just 2 months!

Uh... yeah... thats pretty good there Ceenda. Your imropoving at an amazing rate. Hope your proud of yourself. The shadows dont quite seem right some how... but since your working from reference I wont debate to much over that.

Anywho, what was the original rez if I may ask? It kind of appears you went in real closely and did some cross-hatching to gain texture, a tried and true way of doin things.

Incredible Ceenda.. I think you should stick with the paintbrush for a while.. you obviously have a great deal of skill with it. You can only get better from here, and frankly, that scares me

Maybe not hitmen, but a couple of toughs to go round and break his hands so we can all catch up sounds like a happy medium.

Wow!!.....I mean WOW! you're really taking off ceenda. Top stuff my friend

I don't mean to sound coy, but I'm amazed at the response this thread has got!

BooMStick, Spitfire, Axl, Bilbo, gseegert, Gecko, Anthony, StrangeFate, Frost, JeremyT, aquamire, HumanClay, Rinaldo, Viridae, endrigan, Affected: Thankyou guys for your comments.

Well, looks like I'll be using the paintbrush then.

Bilbo: Yeah, I know what you mean. I should have gone in and made the fading on the horizon a bit sharper.

JeremyT: If you like it, please go ahead!

aquamire: I usually start out on 1024x768, as my monitor is set to 1280x1024. I resized the pic to 640x466 (I also trimmed the larger version before resizing) when I uploaded it.

I'll try and take those crits into account!

Very impressive Ceenda! I like your landscapes more than your portraits (if you don't mind me saying so ) You're really getting the hang of it. How about using some bigger canvasses so I can use your stuff for Windows backdrops?

ps.. Paintbrush is *THE* tool! So much more control than the Airbrush offers.. atleast /me thinks so..

thats really good. How in the world do you get textures like those on the rocks? Do you just draw them in? Ive tried to do something like that but... lets just say I failed.
