What exactly is the difference between the paintbrush and the airbrush in Photoshop. To be honest, Ive used PS for nearly 8 or 9 years now, and besides one of them having the "wet edges" option...I dont see the difference.
WHAT is it?

I've noticed that you can put colors down a lot faster with the normal brush. With the airbrush, well, it acts like an airbrush: the paint comes out slightly slower than the normal brush and has wet edges.

The airbrush is a "constant" addition of what ever color is picked. If you pass the airbrush with lowered opacity over the same spot over and over, it'll get more and more opaquely tat color.
The paintbrush is consistant. If you keep the same opacity and pass it over the same spot again and again with out lifting the pen/mouse button, it won't get any more opaque than the first time you passed over it. Unless you lift pen/mouse button and make another stroke, it'll stay the same opacity no matter how many times you rub it around that same spot.
