I put this one up on the "brownish paper" thread, but didn't think anyone would see it. Just trying a different drawing style in my recycled paper sketchbook, HB mechanical pencil and white Prisma. Tried to design a creature with different articlation. Whaddayathink?

Cool stuff Wacomonkey. I've never noticed any recycled paper sketch pads. What did you use for the highlights? Gouche, whiteout? |

Ahhhh now I'm getting it all.....Bloody thing would stop half way when I saw it before. Grrrrr I knew that's not all you had ya little @&^%&$.........errrr yeah nice drawin Waco.
Kinda has a hard bony feel to it, but in a realistic slightly supple way. Hard fence to sit on I'm liking the feet.
Hell yeah I'll swallow that design, It would work (now all you've got to do is animate the thing )
On the subject of the technique if I really had to be picky I would say you really need a bit of real white in there. The pencil just can't give you that crispness, it just gets muddy if you try and bulid it up. A splash of white out or something and it would have made it come out just that bit more. (but maybe not, It certianly looks mighty fine)
Don't stop giving us a peak inside that fantastic scetchbook Waco

Hey, niiiice. I'm curious to see the hip structure. Whip up a profile!
I myself like the effect a mid-tone paper has because you can get a lot of punch out of the highlights, which you capitalized on in this piece. I like! |

Nice stuff Wacomonkey.
I like the idea of using white for the highlights, especially when the main image has been drawn on coloured paper.
Looks like something from the horror film Phantoms.
Keep it coming. |

Mmm, excellent skeleto-form structure there. I think, the thinner and bigger a monster/creature is, the scarier it is. This hombre looks both thin, huge and grotesque in the torso and head :P
I appreciate the careful proportioning of all those complex legs and joints. Show us more from this magical book of yours! |

Nice one WM, great lines and how they intersect with eachother. Really cool shapes as well. He looks freaky though
I want to buy some brown paper as well, it's gives a great feeling when adding highlights like that.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.
Rinaldo - you're right, it needs a hit of gouache to make it pop (or "bird sh*t" as we used to call it in the automotive industry :P). As a matter of fact, that solves one problem I had with it, it's hard for me to be subtle with the light shading with the prisma pencil, so I think the image feels a little flat. With some bright highlights around the mouth for example, It should help to give it some depth.
Chapel - Just white prismacolor pencil, though admittedly it isn't as "white" in the sketchbook, I boosted the levels of the scan for more contrast.
Sergenth - Thanks! If you want to see more, I re-posted a few more sketches on the "Post your concept art" thread, but the thread was kind of dead already, so I don't think anyone saw it. There's some more stuff on my website too: http://www.geocities.com/philxster
Get-up kid - I'll try to do some more views, I'm kind of liking the direction, maybe I'll do something with it (do I smell painting?) Just so little time!! |

That looks like my neighbors dog. j/k
Very freaky, i can imagine the overly animated way it would move around with. Since its so bony, it makes you think that its quite hungry as well
Beautiful drawing. |

Just thought it looked cool. Disguisting but aestethically beautiful. Very imaginative. |
