Welp... i've started a new pic, and well... u know how it is... I ran into one of those "Creative Blocks" why? cuz i dont know where to put this darn pussy! what setting should the tiger be in?

great big african plain?
house with fancy furniture?
techno setting with gizmo's and gadgets?
sitting on the floor with a bowl next to it that says "fluffy"? i mean i have no idea, and well maybe you peeps do! so im asking you for idea's or suggestions...

I also know the colors are a little muddy, for some reason i find it easier to work in muddy colors first and then raise the contrast and brighten it up afterwards, so thats why its like that...

im posting the work in progress been at it fer bout 3hrs on and off.

u can also try http://www.geocities.com/radixmalorum666/pissoff.jpg for this image

I can't imagine a tiger in any one of those settings to be honest. I think it would fit in a jungle scenery with leaves casting their shadows upon him. Like he's just chilling, enjoying the afternoon after a good meal or something.

Very cool! You might wanna check the nose a bit.
As for the background - go nuts! Have something that supports the tiger's majestic appearance & pose. Since it's still fairly unshaded (not in a bad way!) you can create a nice lightsituation through the background and integrate the king of the jungle (no - Tarzan is not the king of the jungle! )

what immortal hand or eye, could frame thy fearful symmetry?

if he's sittin in the forest, chilling after a meal, he could be licking his chops. which would be very cool. for some reason the majestic thing loki was talking about makes me think of the tiger sitting in one of those old paintings with the drapery and the throne and stuff.

Shucks, haven't got any technical suggestions. The tiger is fan-freakin-tastic! One of the things I appreciate most is how you can tell that the skin covering his chest is loose, just like a real cat. You need to be able to bury your hand in it. Darn fine stuff.

I'm unsure where I'd put him. I think he'd look nice in the middle of a pavillion, sitting by a fountain.... You know. People walking by, small children bawling in fright, tiny dogs straining at their leashes....

Juxtaposition gooooood.

I really like the William Blake poem you referred too. I like the whole series in fact. It's the best analysis of lost and found innocence ever (IMO).

A throne room? How about adding a gold chain leash around it's neck with a fat arab prince seated in his throne chair in the backdrop? Nah....tis no good! Well I'm with the forest scene then...fits eh?

I was actually thinking of something similar to that DeathToOl... like some kind of braclet around the neck of the tiger and someoneholding the leash in the background, or just having the tiger chained to something in some kind of egyptian setting... i dunno...

i really dig and appreciate everyones suggestions! now back to that WACOM PAD! grrr!

Finally i put a Background Hip Hip POORAAYY! hip HIP pooraayyy!

of course its not done, but before i really jump into the background maybe ya'll can give me some idea's.

Things ive noticed so far myself, is that the carpet is more detailed than the tiger, and i realize this and im going to go back and put lots more detail in the tiger so the carpet doens't steal the show (afterall its just a carpet). the stand in the back with the vase looks really flat i kno.. but again i just threw that in there so that i would know to put some kind of furniture back there. Im looking at some references of egyptian furniture...but the painting really isnt screaming Egypt too me... kinda like Columbian Drug Lords House....

anywhere here it is.... CRITS pleaseeee!

is this finished? if not, i would add some dramatic lighting now. right now the few shadows you have are very very light. something more bold would make the picture look a lot more striking. especially if this picture is supposed to be on a sunny day, there would be nice deep shadows on the porch.

the other thing i'd consider is the way you frame the tiger. what kind of mood are you going for? right now it's sitting right in the middle, with not much clue about what you're trying to tell us. if you want the viewer to focus on its line of sight, then leave more space in front of it, and less behind. also don't be afraid of cropping out bits of the tiger. in movies, if there's a static shot of a character, you'll never see his whole body. often not even his whole head!
