Hi all.

Hmmm, well this isnt really an art post, but just a question to everyone. Is there something, or like some event in your lives that changed the way you drew, or influenced you so much that you changed your style?

Just a question i was thinkin of. For me, it would have to be final fantasy III. Kinda silly, but once i saw the artwork i fell in love with it. It was so wicked. What do u guys think>?

My biggest influence would have to be a book called Horde created by "Jab Jab Whamo" and J.D. Morvan I believe. It originally appeared in Heavy Metal Magazine (forgot which issue).

Before that it was anything comic related. On of my favorite artists at the time was Sam Keith.

Shortly after I tried getting into 3D and my hand work took a hit.

It was a couple of years ago. The day I allowed God to use my talent how He saw fit, I began to improve. Ever since i've been able to get better every few weeks, It was the best decision I've ever made.

(I know most of you have different ideas about God, so lets not start anything on that again, but that's my biggest turning point)

Hi there. There are many things that I can say have inspired me.

I remember particularly my father knew I was fond of drawing as a child and introduced me to work by Rene' Magritte, Leanardo Da Vinci, Chris Foss, to name a few...

I was particularly inspired by sea life, octopus especially! This is perhaps one of the reasons I found 20,000 leagues under the sea so fascinating. I was also encouraged to read early as well. The Hobbit was one I remember well. I was also into C.S.Lewis, Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Frank Herbert and other classic authors. I think these authors have been inspirations for many artists, including some on this board.

Also, I often find inspiration in the artwork of other artists. I really enjoyed researching Leanardo DaVinci's fascinating sketches of flying machines. However, the range of styles on this board have inspired me greatly.

Music is another thing I find inspiring. I find it a shame that so many people now just buy what is in the charts without searching for their own musical tastes. I like anything from Chemical Brothers to J.S. Bach and even some of the lesser known composers as Felix Alexandre Guilmant.

Whenever I need inspiration, I usually just go for a walk. I am always inspired by Creation. I am also fascinated by the various cultures that inhabit the world and frequently draw inspiration from them. I have recently found my spiritual home in the Eastern Orthodox Church.

I'm influenced by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Handel. I'm also influenced by DaVinci, Vallejo and Dali -- Yeah, I know you're thinking "Huh? I don't see any Dahli influences!" -- But it's not his style that I'm influenced by...It's the hidden meanings that he has in every one of his paintings, that influence me to put symbolism in my art.

Well i'm glad so many of you responded, let's keep the comments comming so other people can check out what inspired everyone else, and hopefully inspire them!

Okey a coupla more things about what has inspired me.

Um..once again final fantasy, just because of the depth that was given to the fantasy world, as well as xenogears, and others like zelda etc.

Um, movies like Armageddon (yuck), and like Legend, aliens have also burned images into my mind.

I think music is really important too...heheh rock on art world

I was always a loner.....siblings never could understand my creativity....mother thought I was crazy.....father...well never lived with him. Until my wife came no one understood my visions (movie scripts, art, blah blah blah), so she help me make reality and express my art on a new level. Oh and after I saw spooge's, and Affected's work I improved a lot. Half-Life had a big impact also.
