looks interesting
it's a very bloody one

Nice pic, but is that a male or female vampire? Looks like a female with sideburns. I like your color selection in all of your paintings, but your there is usually always something "off" in your figure drawing. Just an observation. |

I like the globs of dripping paint. It gives me a sense of real 3d and reallying being in the painting. Dunno if it was supposed to be blood.. blood doesn't drip in hudge globs like that.
But the paint globs really bring you into the painting. (at least me) |

hey Boomstick good job with the colors and the pic. I have a few comments on the face if you don't mind...
The ear looks a little too small.
The eyes seem too far apart
The Chin is really really small while the nose is pretty big.
Fix those up and I think it'll help the image out quite a bit. ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

There is a few things wrong with his neck. If you turn your your head to the left, this one muscle that is attached to your clavicle and to the corner of the skull behind your ear pops up, and the other plus your throat sort of retreat, ( something ) like so:
umm.. and his nose shouldnt be so upwards so i dabbled a bit with that too.. hope ya dont mind
edit : duhh i forgot the image tags ..

So.... Been working a few minutes at the picture again. Not perfect, but i've grown tired of it now.... Mainly did some new strokes on the jacket and the neck. Is it better?

Not completely wrong so I guess I would go with different. I can't put my finger on what it is. Seems like you misproportion certain features. Do you start out with a sketch? Post those and I could probably tell, but with your painting I can't tell if it is the way it is detailed in the painting or if it is the underlying drawing. |

Hmmmmmmm, that blood reminds me of Bolland's cover for Vamps #5, which rocks by the way. Nice...

Nice job, i liked the way that you did the blood's color and the fading of it. The only thing i could point out is that i'm not sure whether you should add and undershirt or sumthin under the jacket, it looks impractical without one or sumthin but hey, what do i know!

chapel - It was supposed to be a female vampire....but then again...could be male...Let's just say it's a vampire. What do you mean by 'off'? Off like in 'wrong'-off or 'different'-off???
Above - maybe you're right. But normally I don't give to much if a ear is too small, a nose is to big or whatever... One might think it looks good and another might dislike. Not to defend myself...so thanks for letting me know how you feel!
Klaivu - yeah! that damn neck took up 50% of my time on this pic (well, almost anyway). I'll change it. You got the nose fixed to a much to dark I might add...Thanks for taking the time to fix what you thought wrong...really appreciate it
to you other dudes... thanks for commenting.

Chapel - well... I would call it artistic subtilities... I believe that doing things 'correct' will make your pictures look dull. Take for instance Alex Ross. While he might be the one in the comics industry to do the most accurate drawings of people/superheroes it also makes him the most boring of the lot. Sure, I have most of his work, but I only use his work as guides for coloring. If you check out his skethes you'll see how much more alive those are than the finished panels. He CAN draw, but for some reason he prefer to take photos and trace them for the most of the panels... yuk! yuk!
Blup - You got it! I was indeed studying Bollands cover when I did the vampire painting.

I think it'd be even cooler if she (pardon if it's a male) had two teeth punctures on her neck! Ahhh...and that gore is good...too thick though for blood! Cool nevertheless!

Hmm.. never heard he traced the photos. I myself don't find it bad to draw from reference. With a 30 day deadline on 30 pages I imagine it is just easier to have the photos to work from. Maybe I should just try and verify what I mean about "off". I think you should probably work a little more on your figure drawing and anatomy. It looks like you are going for a realistic look with your painting, but it doesn't quite work with your drawing style. But like you said.. Alex does have some great sketch work that looks different when painted. You should post yours so I can compare the sketch to the finished painting. By the way this all just my opinion. I like your stuff I just think it could be better? |

death - you never heard of 'bloodthick'???
Chapel - Yep! Alex Ross do indeed draw from photos. Something he's always stood up to admit. And why shouldn't he, since it's so obvious. Ross don't do 30 pages a month. He only does miniseries at the moment.
I know it's only your opinion. I just wanted to know exactly what you meant. I'm not particulary looking for a realistic style. I try to do graphic stuff that are interesting (I hope) to look at. And the graphic approach I've trying to do doesn't need to 100% anatomically correct.
Ahh... It sounds like I'm defending myself which I'm really not. And I thank you for trying to explain how you feel. thanks!
