Well i have always been told drawing images from real life will greatly increase your skills and perception as an artist, so i gave it a go. i tried something pretty tricky.
i got a tea towel, and tied a knot in the middle, and drew it.
does it look like a tea towel with a knot?
Thanks
Mat... (p.s, i think you should all give it a go...pretty tricky)

Hmm... let me see...
Is it a tea towel with a knot tied in the middle?
Bah, I'm usually wrong on those things...

yes, most definitely it looks like a teatowel-with-knot. I think it's very good, especially if it's the first time you drawn from life! Now do this each day
You seem to be drawing the outline form of the towel. What you might want to try a few times next is drawing the "contours" of it - the borders of the light/dark areas.
I'm sure there's lots of people on this board who can give good references to drawing-excersize books. |
