2 things veb. First off, I don't have painter 6 so will this tut work for painter 5? Second, I like the idea of the lightsource when you choose a background tone, but in your example the shading of your sketch is different from the lightsource you chose with the background tone. I thought that was odd.

Ok...finanlly I have started a painter tutorial on making a Conan. I`m interrested in trying out this teaching method, so what would be really cool was if the ones are interrested copy each of my steps here on this forum. Actually..it would be even cooler if the really good ones here followed it too, in your own styles(and probably kick my butt;-)

I have finished the first two steps..the sketch and the base color, and while I`m adding painter paint onto it for the next stage, you guys can do the first steps. Post it here again and get feedback.

I will continue to add steps there aswell as here from now on.

Also before I continue I want to know if the image choice is what you like, or if you want me to work on a one of my more traditional tpye Conan images of more action and composition opposed to this more portait like one. Although I will expand the background at a later stage to add some simple background.

Painter5, no problem. It will even work with photoshop, although I`ll refer to painter brushes, they can to some degree be recreated in ps.
