Hi there.
Someone asked about MYST type artwork. I came across this article today on IGN and thought that people might be interested to see some of the artwork which being done for MYST III. There are a number of people on this board working on it.

good link and cool art.. but I find it rather strange that these pc.ign.com guys overwrite the artists sign with their url.
Did you presto guys know that they do that?
because after all they DON'T have the image rights do they? |

Nex: Sadly, I think that once a piece of work is handed over to a web host, magazine editor, publisher etc. they can pretty much do as tehy please with it, as it is their format which is going out as the final product. I think something along these lines happened to vebjorn a while back with his publisher. |

really?
Is this a MUST or just a custom?
It seems strange to me that if I want to publish a picture I cannot control what they do to it.
I mean they added their logo and website stuff all over it.
I think I should spend some time with the legal mumbo-jumbo.. it can be handy to know that stuff I see.

Good to know guys. I'm sure our publisher knows about it already, but I'll pass on the info anyway. We put a Myst3:Exile logo in the corner on purpose, they shouldn't be removing it. Regardless of who puts it up, it remains Mattel/Presto/Cyan's copyright, used by permission.
If you want to see more artwork, anything that's been published should also be on the Myst 3 website at http://www.myst3.com or will be soon. There's a lot of Fred (Ron Lemen) & Francis' work, and a couple of my pieces as well + a short teaser trailer and some screen shots. Glad people are interested! |

WacoMonkey: Is the artwork you guys have done for Myst III going to appear in the game, or is it mainly concept art that you guys are doing?
If your stuff is for the concept side of things, will it be possible to have a look at all the stuff you guys have done for it once the game is out?
Great stuff guys. |
