Yeah, that's right. We've posted a new tutorial by Craig Mullins over at 3DP.
http://www.3dpalette.org/features/cmullins/september/
Only the article is working, so don't try clicking on the menu links and stuff (well...u can, but it won't do u much good.)
The server seems very slow, and its NT aswell, so expect a few hiccups. You might have to manually paste the url. Gamedev says they'll have our linux server set up for us in 2 weeks. Enjoy the article, and spread the news. Cheers
Comments, suggestions, etc welcome...

OH MY GOD!!! "STAR WARS" rhymes with "Car Whores" (is what i think). If Craig have a bad sense of rhyme, i might be right ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

Thanks guys...ain't Spooge just the best? Man, I just wish I could show you the other stuff he sends me. Man, the stuff from "Car Whores" is crazy! Crazy shit I tell ya.
Eheh, just kidding, but maybe if we suck up to him a real lot, he'll show us some stuff, and maybe even do an article. Mmm, wouldn't that be the dog's bollocks? BTW, Dr Bang, clap yourself on the back, and go buy yourself a prostitute for the night! You deserve it buddy! Man, you musta been working that brain hard tonight. See ya at Harvard next year.
Sorry about the crashing. Some people just seem to get it. Its probably amplified by the fact that we're on NT. Hopefully, we'll be up for good in mid september. Gamedev tells us 2 weeks to set up the linux box, and then we'll have to get our programmer to get his shit together again. But, we'll be doing articles weekly now, so we're (sorta) getting our act together.

Man, dunno why you're thanking me, about the only thing I did was put in the link to Maxim at the bottom. Well, ok, now that I think about it, that was pretty important... |

Cool! First time I have seen the "blocking out large parts first" in action. I think I get it now
Thanks for putting your time into this, Spooge. It is appreciated. |

Great spooge!
Had to try a quick one...
Hmmm...imageready made it darker when I optimized...I modified the levels a little,
hope that's better.

My version.
I'm happy with some small parts of it, but on the whole it kinda' sucks. Some odd color variations through out the figure himself (or herself, who knows).
Background could be a bit better too. Mostly colors and lighting suck though.

Since we're posting our tries at spooge's tutorial, here's mine:
Obviously i didn't think the position of his arm, nor his face, out very carefully. The leg I realized was wrong, but i had started shading by then and went on ahead. |

so I don't really know how to use photoshop I guess.
I read the tutorial, but I don't understand the mask layer part.
the 3rd step, "Load your silhouette mask channel so that your figure is selected"?
my silhouette is pink, and not greenish black like craigs 3rd step photo...
"Inverse your selection so the BG is selected."
I did this, and it didn't seem to make a difference..
those are the only problems I'm having I believe..

I tried that tutorial too.. I'm not too happy of the result, but learned a good deal from it Thanks spooge!
Here's original size versions, and the "noice layer" I used (normal mode, 15% opacity)...
