I really like the first pic, she's damn sexy. For the second pic, i think you should fix her:
-lip
-eye brown
-shading.

Other wise, this post is perfect.

The pants on the first one rock-ass, her skin is a little pale, but some chicks have that pale skin so not unrealistic, I would just like more color

I took the liberty of painting over your second image a little bit. Mainly I added some detail that was kinda fuzzy in your original and bumped up the contrast a bit, made the light source and direction a little more obvious. Since I don't know what you look like, a lot of the added information is sort of "generic." I used a lot of stuff I've been learning from Fred, and he's probably the one to really do this right; but I know he's swamped as hell at work right now.

Now that I look at it, it sort of has this cheesy "glamour shots" look to it. Probably too much airbrush work. Oh well, what do you want from an amateur portrait painter?

nice shading on the pants!

that's some good shit, darkmoon

maybe you should think in terms of modelling with light and shade for the portrait. Try sitting in front of a mirror with a desklamp lighting half of your face and see how the shadows play over your features. The lines between the light and dark planes does the same job of defining as your linework does in your more cartoony illustrations

btw, it's great to see you experimenting with style like this

Hey Dm! =)
The top one is really cute, love the face. Good work!
The bottom one lacks definition on the lips, but the eyes are very defined. Hey, it's great work dear! Love them! More!

Cool DM
The top one is neat, I like the face, looks cute. Imo the shoes are a bit too shiny/saturated though.
Ahh see you trying some new stuff on the bottom pic, well you need to define your nose better and the lightsource. Check Francis repaint. Right now it looks pretty flat. Also cleaning up some parts would be good. Keep it up!

Wow, i got replies!

and a welcome to the board after being here for a year... goes to show how much i post...

francis hehe you turned me into a model...

and ok, confession, i dont actually have a mirror i could move into here, SO it was from a cam shot

rdg, thats kinda what i did, but i wanted a picture to make me look half decent so i guess i made some shadowsn kinda dissapear

binke, the shoes were done to make them look extra shiny, i kinda like them the way they are hee hee now if only i could have clothes like this...

visi, me0w thanks babe, i wish i had your clean lines.

thanks nori and Isric

jenn babe! you nailed it, i smudged it and screwed it up, if i decide to fix this up ill just start over, probably should spent more time on it, but drawing myself realistically makes me utterly depressed hehe

mr. Kh, hehe i did give myself colour, thats me with a tan.

Dr. Bang, i agree with the bad parts, thanks for pointing them out, ill focus more on those next pic i swear!

thanks for comments... man i love comments.

Bah, visi, Dm's mine

Very kewl senorita. Love the shiny pants on the first one, as well as the new painterly style you're starting to use (more and more I see these days ) and experiment with.

Second one is really cool, albeit a few undefined/smudgey edges. Maybe just fix up those edges some and a little value adjustment and you've got yourself Rembrandted

Anyway, sorry for replying late...school sucks

Aha! That'd be your problem - poor quality reference. Try using a well focused photo, or even a shot from your favourite glossy magazine. The more information the reference has, the less you need to make up.
