Tinusch: hahah Well, you need to swim more!

dr . bang: This pic has been lying on my HD for quite some time actually.
I think this was among the stuff posted to sfnet.tiedostot which is a finnish newsgroup meant for all kinds of binary attachments so that the discussion groups don't get spammed.

I like the pic too tho' and will keep working on it. Do you guys think working on a reference pic and sort of copying it 1:1 is helpful or should I do something else? I'm just drawing for fun, but want to learn everything that's in it in the same time

If you've done this well, with this being your first, then I recommend trying something a little easier and I think you'll be presently surprised.

I'm a relatively new person to wacom drawing and been mostly doodling around and reading these postings. Then I started looking for something to do and figured that I'd learn best from drawing a few pictures from reference. I found a load of pictures from the web and here's one I've been working on. I hope nudity is ok here

Reference:

I'm relatively happy with the woman closer to the screen, but the one behind him bothers me. Oh well, maybe you guys can help

I've got a reference drawing of Tori Amos underway too, but the pic doesn't look anything like her so maybe I'll skip that

I just had to think if there would come anything to my mind that would be harder to draw than this picture. i don't think so..

First there is a lot of anatomy there.. than there is lighting under water.. and then there is the reflection map on the bodies from the waves above..

well..

I think the girl in the backgrounds legs could be fixed.. especially the one closer to the viewer does not have much form yet.
As you already pointed out her face would need some work too.. especially the ears and the nose. Her neck could be a bit more defined too.. just add some more slight shadows here and there.

Generally you could go brighter for the cast reflection map and slightly darker in some places on the body.

the first woman looks quite good.

I'd love to see that tori amos pic.. I'm a dedicated fan
