i was wondering if theres any way to make a certain layer in flash loop independantly of the rest of the movie? like, i have one layer that i want to continuously loop and not wait until all the other layers have finished playing until it starts again...
is there any way to do this? |

Find a way to turn it into an individual movie. You can easily look up how to make these in the manual, but thats what they do, they run independantly from everything else. Once you make a "movie" (it can be whatever, even a small, wobbling ball) it will run continuously.
hope that helps a little. I was trained by a great Flash master. he is on the forum, goes by the name of Toast...

I just started using Flash 4 so i'm not exactly sure if this is the best way to do it. Feel free to double check this from someone more learned on the subject or just give this a try, i'm pretty sure this'll work .
First, click on Insert -> New Symbol -> Change the Behavior option to "Movie Clip", give it a name and click ok. Then start creating your independently movie. When you're done, return to your original flash movie. Your independent movie will be stored as a symbol and can be accessed by clicking Window -> Library.
Then create a new layer for your independently running movie. You then drag the symbol into your project on the first frame of the new layer you created and it should run independently of the movie.
Hope this helps.
Btw, this is my first time posting on this board. I'm trying to be a self taught artist and this board has been very helpful. Thanks alot guys.

Simply make a movieclip, and add this mc
instance to your main timeline.
Just check the help file on "symbols" and
"understanding multiple timelines".
Your mc will allways get the fps settings of
your MAIN timeline (so called level0).
(the rest works exactly like wayco said hehe)

ok guys, i make a new symbol and everything using New Symbol, but after i make it, it doesnt show up in the god damn Library window.....ive tried making graphic/button/and movie symbols, and they never show up in the library. i check out flash's help topics, they just say "your symbol wil be added to the library" or something, which isnt happening, and offer no help...
so why is this happeneing. its really really getting on my nerves now. |

click on "Window" then select "Library" that will be the library of symbols for your current movie.
