Don't really know why I'm posting this, but I felt I need to put something up. I've been buggin everyone else about there pics, so I guess you can pay me back.
Anyway, a small bit of inspiration hit me this afternoon and I scribbled this out. I'm going to make a nice pic of my favorite X-man Colossus. Here is a snippet:
By the way, instead of using basic shapes to get the form I scribbled it out and shaped it that way.

Chapel,
I know you've scribbled it out, as you said, but I'll write this anyway
When doing a person from front it's very important that the anatomy is rather symetrical. As you see his neck is a bit off. Also, try to make the anatomy out of less round shapes, balls, but more that each muscle is connected with eachother (both soft and hard lines). Like from the chest to the arm. It's very typical to make each muscle as separate parts, but when infact it's all very connected. Take a picture of a persons muscle structure and try to add skin to it.
This is not a very good example, but the top line is a bit more symetrical...

Thanks Joachim. I had been staring at soo long I didn't realize the neck was off centered. I just started on the muscles, so they weren't quite done yet. Most of it will be clearer when I ink it... I hope. |

Joachim (or anyone) what about it now? I haven't worked on the muscles yet I'm still deciding on how I want him to look. But is the head ok?

I like the second version better.
Now, I'm no anatomy expert, but I think his head (not the face) should be a little smaller, and the arms should be larger. This body could work well for a small and strong man, but he's Colossus, so he has to look really tall.
Hope I've helped.

yes chapel, looks alot better now.
Just fix the hands, look a bit small and not very powerpul But the rest is much better !!
Oh, btw, one other thing. Look at his "breasts" , don't know how to say it, chest (?) ...anyway, if you look on the sketch I did on top of yours, the breasts are much like a straight line from the shoulders. Think of a guy that is tightening his mucles, the chest kind of compress. Damn my english suck some times, sorry. ANyway, what I'm trying to say is, if you compare my sketch to your last one, his breasts seems a bit more "firm" on mine....hmmm, does this make sense at all, please tell if you don't get my point.

I know what you mean Joachim.. you have a breasts fetish. (just kidding) I know what you mean about the muscles, but the problem with Colossus is that he is all metallic, so I have to figure out the reflections.. if I keep him shirtless. As far as his anatomy I'm trying to keep it somewhat realistic..for a big shiny metal guy. |

The "breasts" are the pectoral muscles. |

As long as he didn't say "man-nipples" I'm ok with his terminology. |
